Hair dye build up advice

Hi

I have quite long hair, short really doesn't suit me but have noticeable black/brown build up at the ends.

What can I do without 1) cutting all off or 2) using a home kit like colour b4, as tried once and really didn't like it!

Google vitamin c for lightening hair. Apparently it's quite good in powder form. U just whack it in your shampoo abd leave it on for a while. I've used colour b4 quite successfully. Only other alternative is to go to a hairdresser.
