What are those bags?

You see posh ladies in airports with them.

Big, square, plain.
Canvas main part, brown leather bib and handles.

Long enough to wear over your shoulder.
Come in lots of colours.

They're lovely and I want one.

(Did I just post this twice? I thought I did... did it disappear?)

I think you mean longchamps tote bags. Can't link on iPad, but I think that's it.

SirToffeeDoris · 17/04/2013 10:16

these?

oinkment · 17/04/2013 10:19

YES!!!

Oh Mumsnet is so clever.

love longchamp

polyhymnia · 17/04/2013 13:06

Yes me too - have about 4.

oinkment · 17/04/2013 14:55

Ooh but what colour should I get?

My stalwart colours are lime green, brown and turquoise.

Currently having a love-in with yellow.

But they only seem to do certain colours at a time.

Just looked on Amazon and you can get all sorts of bags that look the same but aren't Longchamp (not fakes, I mean just generic bags made to the same design). Should I definitely get the real thing?

I'd go for a dupe. £75 for a synthetic shopper seems a bit unneccessary to me, even with the little bit of leather. There are good lookalikes doing the rounds.

Iseeall · 17/04/2013 15:02

If you want to look like the posh ladies at the airport get the real thing, you do see the Longchamp logo.

oinkment · 17/04/2013 19:42

Well I'm not really bothered about labels, but I think I'd like something good quality. Am undecided now.

Haven't regretted what I've spent on mine fwiw. Have had so much use out of them both for everyday commuting and travelling abroad. .

have a look at Herve Chapelier if you like fun colours - they combine differerent colour handles and body of bag. High quality, very BCBG Parisian!

EarlyInTheMorning · 17/04/2013 20:53

They really are crazy useful although I wish we could also get the Herve Chapelier ones.

EarlyInTheMorning · 17/04/2013 20:54

cross post Easter!

EasterHoliday · 17/04/2013 21:07

you can order them online! don't seem to have very exciting colours right now, but CHIC french & understated I suppose

faustina · 17/04/2013 21:16

I would def get the real thing - quite possibly the dupes don't use the same quality materials, and that's the whole point of those bags - they are indestructible. I would steer clear of pale colours though, as they can get a bit dirty. You are meant to be able to throw them in the washing machine, but I tried with one of mine and it didn't work

LynetteScavo · 17/04/2013 21:20

So it's not just me who notices loads at airports! Do certain people use them as their travelling bag, or something?

EasterHoliday · 17/04/2013 21:28

they sell them on planes in the duty free mags

YoniShapedLoveBox · 17/04/2013 21:28

I want one too
