Grin

How did we finish the other thread so fast...? Less than a month.

OP posts:
Stropperella · 03/05/2013 17:28

Herbs, have you got in supplies of antihistamine and calamine lotion?

herbaceous · 03/05/2013 17:30

I have stocked up on piriton, and apparently one can use eurax, which I already have.

So far he only has about 10 spots. But it's early days...

bigTillyMint · 03/05/2013 17:58

DS got it when he was about a year old - just a few spots on his tummy (I thought they were mozzie bites!) then DD got it (she would have been about 3) just as we were off camping in France. She got more spots but wasn't ill and luckily she had a long-sleeved/long-legged sunsuitWink

Stropps, how do you know when a dog is ill (apart from vomiting, of course!)?

alto1 · 03/05/2013 19:17

Just lost my post - trying to get used to dd's iPad as she's decided she'd like to swop for iPod. Not finding it as intuitive as I'd expected

Never been so glad to stagger into a long weekend. Hellish run of crises at work, pile-up of deadlines, 4 (four, IV) migraines in one week. And the long-dreaded death of a beloved colleague

DH came with me to funeral for moral support today. Good to hear so many people talk eloquently, passionately and hilariously about dear friend but still awful to think I won't see him again.

Sister coming tonight and bringing DM home after her extended holiday - think we'll all be quite pleased to see her back! Who'd have thought it Grin

Stropperella · 03/05/2013 19:40

Enjoy the long w/e, alto. Sounds like you need a rest. Sorry to hear about your colleague.

BTM, the dog had infectious diarrhoea. Can't really miss those symptoms. Grin They also get a hot dry nose when they have a temperature and my dog comes and leans on me and does his "poorly" face, won't eat, looks sadly at his toys and is generally not himself when ill.

bigTillyMint · 03/05/2013 19:47

Aww, Stropps!

Alto, sorry to hear about your colleague tooSad

DD has text me saying they have fantastic seats, and DS and DH are watching CSI upstairs - all is good!

herbaceous · 03/05/2013 20:16

On a S&B jag, I had a go at Warehouse's online 'try it on' thingo. Grim viewing. I had nurtured vague hopes that I'd look faintly presentable in modern garb, having lost a few pounds, but had those hopes cruelly dashed. It would seem a bathing machine is my only proper attire.

bigTillyMint · 03/05/2013 20:34

Herbs, you looked fab on Wed - I look like TenTonTessie on the "try it on" thing - it's not a good sales toolGrin

herbaceous · 03/05/2013 21:00

You are too kind. But I shall grab your compliment like a drowning man grabs at straws. Natch, both trousers and top were from Sainsbury's!

Bawling my way through this book of my mum's. Now on 'her and dad' section, which is inevitably causing anguish. While drinking wine. With PMT. Think I should down tools and order a curry.

QueenQueenie · 03/05/2013 21:31

Definitely have a curry. Have just downed shameful quantities of Vietnamese takeaway here, most restorative.

herbaceous · 03/05/2013 22:05

Am now stuffed with delicious curry. Feel much better.

Ooh, Vietnamese. That's the one thing I miss about my old dalston flat - it was round the corner from huong viet, the Vietnamese canteen, and loads if other marv viet places. Want to start one up in Walthamstow!

I finally met my friends for birthday curry and got lots of lovely presents - I am a lucky person Grin
Ruby like you dread to think how fat I'd have to go for Vietnamese takeaway - we do have a reasonable Chinese though.
Alto sorry to hear about colleague and generally long week.
Ruby you are too kind Smile the thought of moving again brings me out in hives...but I know in 10 years we'll be shifting again.

bigTillyMint · 04/05/2013 07:57

BD, why will you be moving again in 10 years? We have been here for 14 years (longest I've lived anywhere!) and no plans to move!

Have fun singing Herbs and BD - I will be stuck in the kitchen!

Ruby, house sounds hopeful...

herbaceous · 04/05/2013 07:58

Would it be v irresponsible to bring DS to the South Bank to hear me sing, considering he's got chickenpox?

Blackduck · 04/05/2013 08:07

BTM - ds will have finished school and dp wants to be by the sea....
Herbs - once they are spotty aren't they not contagious? Ds had very few spots but they were localised all over his willy and bum - luckily he was a babe, still in nappies so he doesn't remember! (I do - we took him to A&E as I didn't think it was the pox!)

Apparently they're contagious until the spots scab over, which they haven't yet. I'm just worried he'll infect a pregnant woman, which would be awful.

bigTillyMint · 04/05/2013 09:25

Hmmm, Herbs, I'm not a good person to ask (see above!)Blush

ruby, storage - you can never have enough, unless you're a decluttererWink

Stropperella · 04/05/2013 09:53

Enjoy your concert, Herbs, whether your spotty ds is with you or not :)
I am jolly impressed with your fortitude in sorting out the photo book for your mother. Am now thinking that actually, maybe I should sort out some kind of photo collection for my mother's birthday (her 83rd is coming up next month), although a mammoth historical collection would be met with a reaction comparable to MrsS's mother's reaction to MrsS's best hotel efforts. She quite appreciates photos of the grandchildren though, so maybe I will need to collaborate with my sil on a digital project... Hmmm.

Ruby, hope the house viewing is fruitful.

Discovered a beery mess in the freezer this morning, as I was so damn knackered last night that I put beer to quick-chill in the freezer and then forgot about it. Ooops.

I'm out on a night out with my mum-friends from ds's school tonight. Must remember to behave decorously. Unlike the last couple of times Blush

Now, a begging request: does anyone have a can't-fail flapjack recipe they would be prepared to share with me? Have heard mention of stellar flapjack making by BTM and MrsS...

bigTillyMint · 04/05/2013 10:13

Ruby, this one never fails for me!

200g butter
200g sugar (demarara or caster)
200g golden syrup
melt and add
400g oats
Mix and put into greased and lined 20cm sq cake tin
Bake 20mins Gas mk4

Make soft flapjacks - cook for longer to get crispier!
I often add dried fruit too.

Massive outside storage?Envy Whatcha worrying about?!

bigTillyMint · 04/05/2013 10:14

Oops, that should have been to Stropps - flapjack recipe!
