What's with all this 'peplum' nonsense?

Was out looking at clothes this morning as I'm going back to work soon after 5 yrs out of the office (yay!)

Now, I'm a fussy article anywy when it comes to clothes, but there seems to be some horrible stuff out there at the moment. Particularly lots of 'peplum' style, which seems to mean a really unflattering frill that stands out from yr waist and emphasises your childbearing hips. Does this style suit anyone?

I didn't like peplums, then had a personal shopping session before I went back to work and the shopper totally changed my view on them. They do have to sit at the right length.
