L`oreal preference mousse hair dye

Has anybody tried yet and is it any good. I have bought today despite never dyeing my hair. im always scared that it will be a disaster, it seems pretty simple to apply in a mousse form. please any views would be appriciated...

The new one that you can reuse?

Used it, it didn't work. I don't know if something about the ingredients didn't combine properly into a mousse, but it didn't even tint my hair, let alone dye it red.

A shame as its quite expensive but I thought if I'd get two go's out of it (I've a pixie crop) it'd be worth it.

I used it (if it's the re-useable one). I won't be buying it again. It didn't really colour my hair properly and was really hard to wash out. I colour my hair frequently (usually with the John Frieda mousse) and have never experienced problems washing dye out.

Both times I washed it for ages, but it left my hair feeling really greasy and took two or three washes to get rid of the greasiness. Sorry not to have more positive feedback for you!

I bought this too when I saw it on offer in boots. I didn't like it. I'm very dark and it didn't really cover my grey (not even as well as casting semi) and left my hair feeling really tacky. Have a bit left to touch up roots but won't be buying again. Unless I did something wrong?

I've tried a couple of the mousse ones, and they left my hair feeling horrible. The colour was rather patchy too, but since going back to the usual liquids i've had no problems.

I found it simple to apply, but the colour was a bit feeble.

Did it this morning. Even on a pixie crop you have to use loads. I had to keep going over the front of my hair as I could see it wasn't taking. I used the dark brunette one as I have dark ash brown hair with grey and the medium brown looked too warm. It is now black.

Deep joy. I am hoping for some fade out over the next couple of days. I have shampooed it twice after colouring to get rid of the strange residue.

One other point - it really stinks. Sort of eye watering and eggy. Window open job. I won't be bothering again.

Really surprised that other posters agreed with me - was really expecting to be told I must have done it wrong!

Yep practicality I had forgotten the smell. Thought it was just me as pg!

I tried it 2 weeks ago. Used the whole can as I wanted to see how much was in there and whether it would last for applications. Shoulderlength hair. The colour hasn't really taken and will need to colour again as there is still grey .

Definatley will not use again - I am going back to the 10 minute ones

I was tempted then saw the reviews on Boots. I'm tempted by the John Freda one but it's not re-usable.

What are the ten minute ones like? I'm new to permanent colours so still trying to find one that suits. Sorry to hijack!

My best one ever was from poundland, but I've never found it again. Grr.

I wouldn't go with the 10 minute ones as they tend to over darken. Also it is really easy to go over the time by the time you have done the roots and worked around. The lasting power once you have done it is rubbish too. It washes straight off the greys within 3 washes/days.

If your greys aren't too resistant then Nice n Easy is quite good. Go for a shade lighter than you think though.

The new L'oreal recital preference formulation is absolutely rubbish. I have tried several shades and not one has turned out as it should. The grey coverage is useless and the colours brassy. Such a shame as it used to be good.

Excellence is still good but the colours are very limited.

Hair dyes are quite rubbish at the mo over all.

I tried a Revlon one which isn't available in this country and that was good.

I have been using the L'oreal 10 minute ones for at least 18 months but it is harder to find them in Boots now. I was unsure at first whether they would cover the grey bits with it being only 10 minutes but it did. Colour was good to.

Used to buy 2 when on special offer. Going to have a good look tomorrow as need to colour again before work on Monday.

Personally I would go with Castings if you have never dyed your hair before. Most of the permanent colours are anything but. If you don't like semis they are adoddle to remove too.
