Why am I so itchy?

I'm really suffering with a horrendous itchy scalp at the moment, but it's recently got worse and it seems that anywhere my hair (long) touches makes it itchy as well. It's like I'm allergic to my own hair! It's now my forehead, ears, nape of neck and shoulders.

I've used a Lush shampoo bar and Inecto coconut conditioner. Oh and provoke Silver shampoo, but never reacted to this before.

What can I do?

Go to your gp? Certainly avoid heavily scented shampo etc.

Its possible to react to something you have used for a long time.Try Eucerin shampoo-its very soothing and stops itching.Some foods make me itch -like too much cheese and chocolate.I find eating oily fish helps and linseeds.

I had an itchy scalp a year a go my scalp and neck were uncontrollably itchy changing shampoos didnt work after about a fortnight it gradually spread all over, went to gp turned out to be unexplained urticaria needed 2 months of antihistamines and it went away still flares up when stressed or I'll, may be something totally different but worth seeing gp imo

Thankyou for the replies. I feel silly troubling the GP, but you are probably right.

Maybe I'll try an antihistamine to see if it eases then ill know if its allergy related.
