Recommend sunscreen for face?

Hiya
I need to use facial sunscreen SPF 30 or higher, and so far have been v unimpressed... An using an Asian BB cream that's v thick & oily. When I tried to put makeup over it looked v mask-like and unnatural.

Anyone have any recommendations? Holy Grail: light texture, no white cast & feels natural on the skin. Those ones that feel thick & greasy give me the heebie-jeebies.
Ta!!!

Sorry, have used lots of ones from chemist (usual suspects), most left white cast & had horrible texture

Thanks!

Watching with interest as I also need something that will protect me but isn't awful to wear on my skin

cornygrigio · 07/04/2013 16:33

clinique city block
I need to get some for myself

cornygrigio · 07/04/2013 16:34

they do one that's SPF 40 that I want to try - have used the lower spf and that has been great

41notTrendy · 07/04/2013 16:36

Clinique city block. Great stuff. You don't know you're wearing it and I've never burnt wearing it, even in hot Med mid August sun.

La Roche Posay SPF50 tinted.

YoungJoseph · 07/04/2013 16:45

I'm using La Roche Posay tinted foundation, factor 50. It's early days but it is the first tinted moisturiser / BB cream that I have been able to apply directly onto my skin without needing a layer of moisturiser underneath. It's a bit shiny/ sticky looking for me but some mineral powder on top seems to sort that out.
I know you don't say you want tinted but I suspect their untinted would be pretty good too.
Can't vouch for its SPF qualities at this point, need some sun for that.

Best ever: Hawaiian Tropic Sensitive Face Sun Lotion www.boots.com/en/Hawaiian-Tropic-Sensitive-Face-Sun-Lotion-SPF30-120ml_1104245/

Close second: a new discovery, Ambre Solaire Light and Silky www.superdrug.com/ambre-solaire-light+silky-spf30-200ml/invt/537764

Ultrasun SPF30 once a day is raved about often

Fluffycloudland77 · 07/04/2013 20:20

Same as callycats but cheaper

I use the oil free version, it doesn't look white on. I used to use city block SPF 40 but it got too pricey.

MissBeehivingUnderTheMistletoe · 07/04/2013 20:25

thirding la roche posay

forevergreek · 07/04/2013 20:29

neutrogena do a moisturizer with spf 25. its only £7.99 in boots

BassDownLow · 07/04/2013 20:32

I have brneen using Sunsense spf 50 Invisble tint lotion for a couple of years. In my opinion it pisses on cityblock (chalky and weird texture) and its 11 quid on amazon.

Madamecastafiore · 07/04/2013 20:35

Elizabeth Arden do a fab one. Think it is a factor 50 or total sunblock but it isn't too heavy and spent make you look like that weird 80s clown.

JumpHerWho · 07/04/2013 21:34

Another La Roche Posay fan here, te tinted one. Quite orange but blends fine and warms up my ghostly pallor on non makeup days.

Mominatrix · 07/04/2013 21:44

Another vote for Clinique city block. I also happily use Khiels SPF 50. For an excellent (relative) cheapie, Cetaphil do a fantastic high SPF face cream, but I can only find it in the States.

UnrequitedSkink · 07/04/2013 21:55

Watching with interest, I've decided I need to take affirmative action!

AuntieMaggie · 07/04/2013 21:56

Are any of these good for oily skin?

Fluffycloudland77 · 07/04/2013 21:58

The Hawaian 30 is available in a non oily formulation but I still put a bit of ysl matte touch over it.

My skin is very oily though.

City blocks good for oily skin too.

AlwaysSleepingBeauty · 07/04/2013 22:39

I don't know if its still around but I've always liked the L'oreal Matte Fluide SPF 50.

kiwigirl42 · 08/04/2013 14:06

Sunsense is really good and does not leave a white cast. There is also an anti aging version. It stays matt and its great

Iatemyskinnyperson · 08/04/2013 19:43

Thanks a million, will hit town for a couple of hours and see which if these I can find... Grin
