I thought I had found a great pair of jeans. When I tried them on they looked and felt wonderful. A few washes and wears later it's a different story; I was dismayed to arrive home today, take my coat off and find half my bottom on display.

My problem is with the waist: should I go low or high rise? I hate my belly/bum peaking over the top of low rises and belts don't feel right with them as they add to much bulk where it is definitely not required. However, the high-rise female version of Simon Cowell is not a look I aspire to either.

I am 5'6 and would describe myself as pear/hour glass shape. Please MN'ers, tell me your (not too expensive!) jeans secrets.

How about a mid rise?

i hate low and high rise, def go for 'normal' rise. i recently have got some \link{http://www.uniqlo.com/uk/store/goods/075583\uniqlo} ultra stretch jeans which sit on the waist, though they come up slightly larger than usual so worth sizing down. the quality is fantastic though and they really keep their shape - worth trying?

otherwide Esprit are also really good.

Thanks dexter73. I hadn't thought of mid rise. The truth is I was blinded by choice and too busy thinking about whether I wanted 'curvy' or a 'sexy boyfriend'! Thanks hedgefund, I will try uniqlo and Esprit!
