Hair Dye

Hi. I'm 37 and 6 weeks pregnant and hear conflicting views over whether I can dye my hair or not. I usually dye it every 4 weeks, but I haven't done it now for about 7 weeks and the roots are awfully grey. Can anyone tell me if its safe to do so. I asked my doctor this morning but she said she didn't know.

NHS direct should have the definitive guidelines - when I was pg I used henna.

I bleached and dyed my hair throughout my pregnancy. Be extra careful with strand and skin tests as you can be more sensitive, but the main difference is that hair that is grown WHILE you are pregnant reacts with dye differently so may turn out a different colour (therefore you may end up with a stripe)....I got that info from a senior hairdresser.

Modern hair dye is pretty safe. I dyed every 2-4 weeks through both my pregnancies. I was advised to stick to my normal brand and colour to reduce the chances of a reaction.

Yup,another one here who dyed every 6 weeks throughout all 3 pregnancies.
