H&M sizing query

Jemster · 27/03/2013 18:28

I want to order some bits online from H&M sale. My top half to waist is just about a 12 but due tummy area down is more 12 -14.
H&M sizing is 10-12 or 14-16. Does anyone know how the sizing comes up, I'm not sure what to go for? Haven't really got the cash flow to order everything I want in 2 sizes to try both.

I always found their stuff to be on the small size, especially trousers/jeans.

OneLittleLady · 27/03/2013 18:31

side not size

tabulahrasa · 27/03/2013 18:43

Tiny - they have tiny sizes...either that or I put in about 4 stones while walking there from other shops, lol

ScentedNappyHag · 27/03/2013 18:45

I'm a size 12-14 (more 14) in jeans/trousers and I go straight for the 16s in H&M.
It's strange though, as I'm ok in a 12 dress in there. I think they just guess at the sizes to be honest Grin

BikeRunSki · 27/03/2013 18:51

Sizes are tiny and delivery unreliable and can take ages.

DrGoogleWillSeeYouNow · 27/03/2013 18:58

You don't pay when you order from H&M, you pay 28 days later. So order both to try them on.

But fwiw I find their sizes all over the place - trousers and jeans are small, tops and dresses tend to be big.

mrgarybarlow · 27/03/2013 19:01

I'm a 14 and always order a 16 or the 16-18 in H&M but sizes vary from item to item.

Trtouser sizes are tiny. Only place I don't fir into a 12.

ChablisLover · 27/03/2013 21:10

I have trousers from there ranging from a 10 to 14 and I've not put on weight

Also have a jacket which is an 18!!

I'm usually a 10-12 so hoping it was labelled wrong

Best way is to try on in shop

I find their online returns horrendous.

scarlet76 · 28/03/2013 06:21

I have never had a problem with delivery or returns.
I am a 6 in places like M&S, Next, DP, Boden... I am a 6/8 in Topshop. H&M comes up smaller but as others said it can differ from garment to garment. I recently ordered a cardigan in a 6-8 which fits but is a snug fit, a cotton top in an 8 which is quite loose and some above the knee denim shorts that I needed in a 27 waist as opposed to my usual 25 or 26. Therefore often wise to order 2 sizes to avoid disappointment.

Branleuse · 28/03/2013 06:33

Im a 12 and I always go for a 16 in h&m.
14s fit but don't allow for the inevitable huge shrinkage after washing.

Ruffello · 28/03/2013 06:40

I'm usually a size 10 but had to get a size 6 jumper from H&M. I also tried on a few shirts and ended up getting a size 14. As others have said, their sizing is all over the place!

notnowImreading · 28/03/2013 07:12

Tailored tops and dresses in particular can come up small (ie flat-chested) and trousers are about one size smaller than other shops.

101handbags · 28/03/2013 11:10

Agree, the sizing is all over the place, last week I bought a size 12 jacket, a size 14 cardigan and a size 16 denim shirt. I normally wear a 10 or a 12.

ineedclothes · 28/03/2013 11:14

Im about to order a blazer im usually a 10 in jackets elsewhere dont know weather to order a 10 or a 12 cant get to a store sadly

MildredH · 28/03/2013 11:47

Definitely go up a size rather the down. Their sizing is always extremely variable but in recent months has become very meanly cut. I'm a small 12, usually but their size 14 but have struggled to get into 16 lately!!

Gabaccia · 28/03/2013 11:49

It's really variable but I'd say most of their stuff is tiny, so size up. Apart from those lovely slouchy t-shirts recommended on here a while ago - they are gigantic.
