BB Cream - is it worth it?

Am coming up to the end of my MAC foundation and have been toying with the idea of going for a medium range BB cream (was looking at the No. 7 one today but will consider others). Can anyone recommend or oppose?

I only use a bit of foundation strategically and don't need heavy coverage as, luckily, I have good skin. How does it work with the shades available? Do they adapt to your skin colour?

I recommend Maybelline BB cream. I hate foundation but this gives me a bit more coverage than just powder. It's very much like tinted moisteuriser.

Stevie77 · 21/03/2013 12:50

I see, might give it a go...

I wouldn't wear foundation as I find it a bit too much. Started with Garnier bb cream testers, which I didn't like.
Have now been using No.7 bb cream for about 6 months and am very happy with it.

not the Estee Lauder one. I don't like it at all - strange texture - very thick & makes eye cream used first rub off in rolls. The lighter colour didn't work on me at all either - looks quite grey

I've been using the Lacura one from ALDI and love it. and it was cheap as chips! double bonus

stacysmom · 21/03/2013 13:02

I've been using the No7 BB cream for about a month now and I really like it. Just enough colour to brighten me up and make me feel a) human and b) like I care about myself.

valiumredhead · 21/03/2013 13:13

I found them all orange!

TacoLeBell · 21/03/2013 13:28

I've mentioned it before but the Clinique one is very good, I have dry patches and was initially on the hunt for a tinted moisturiser but tried the BB cream and really like it. There is only 3 shades though, I'm just lucky the M suited my skin.

Stevie77 · 21/03/2013 13:28

Oh no, a mixed bag of opinions! I thought, with only limited shades availae, that they self adapted to the wearer's skin colour?

What's the difference between BB cream and tinted moisturiser?

ladybyron · 21/03/2013 13:50

Dior one is fab as is Clinique.

BinksToEnlightenment · 21/03/2013 14:32

BB cream is meant to replace a lot of things - moisturiser, primer, foundation, highlighter. It's good for people who don't have ages to spend applying layers of base makeup.

Quenelle · 21/03/2013 14:49

Ooh. I like the sound of that. Thanks Binks.

BinksToEnlightenment · 21/03/2013 16:21

No problem! Hope you find a good one. Some of the cheaper ones can be a bit drying, but I've heard lots of people say they love the No 7 one. It's too dark for me though sadly.

Fanjounchained · 21/03/2013 18:54

I got a rather generous sample of the new Philosphy one today which looks really nice. I'm usually a Double Wear girl so it has a lot to live up to...

Quenelle · 21/03/2013 19:18

I have fairly Mediterranean colouring, Bink, so no7 could work for me. Will check it out tomorrow.

Stevie77 · 21/03/2013 19:25

Binks that's pretty much what I am expecting it to do! Might try the No 7 one seeing as I have a £5 off voucher

I didn't like the Garnier one (too greasy), but I love the Olay one (it's called Total Effects Touch of Foundation, but it's basically a BB cream).

Arisbottle · 23/03/2013 21:19

I have the Dior one, really good

MrsSchadenfreude · 23/03/2013 22:57

I have the La Roche Posay one, and also Filorga. Both good. Garnier brought me out in hives. Never a good look.

futterbingers · 24/03/2013 03:00

I have the Maybelline Dream Fresh BB and I love it. I normally wear EL Double Wear Light but, for days when I want to look a little less made-up this is brilliant. Also its SPF 30.
I don't think BB creams are tinted moisturiser, simply because I never met a tinted moisturiser I could wear. I have sallow skin and every tinted moisturiser I tried made me look ill, whereas the BB creams give me a more "natural" look.

TWinklyLittleStar · 24/03/2013 03:22

Are any of them good for very fair skin?

Arisbottle · 24/03/2013 10:21

Yes the Dior one , I am not porcelaine but definitely pale and it suits me

McGilly · 24/03/2013 12:24

Another vote for the Maybelline.

justabigdisco · 24/03/2013 14:38

I'm pale with combination skin and I really like the No7 one (they do an oily skin version).
