Protection for leather handbag

I've bought myself a nice new leather bag, not expensive but dear enough for me and a rare treat. It's a cross body bag in a slate grey colour.

I'm just wondering if there is anything I can apply to the leather to protect it a bit - I used the bag for the first time today and already there is a scuff mark and a slight grease mark; I think this bag will look grubby quickly if I don't do something.

Any suggestions? Thanks.

I use Collonil waterstop to protect it from rain/dirt and then the collonil gel every few months or so to bring the leather back up...

Thanks madammecholet. Does it affect the look / colour of the leather at all?
