Hi everyone,
I'm 46 and have no signs of the menopause yet but have found that in the last couple of months, a week leading up to my period, I get very irritable and am getting my knickers in a twist over stuff that wouldn't normally bother me.

What supplements do you take? I was thinking of the B group of vitamins. Any advice would be appreciated.

I use evening primrose capsules.

Annianni · 19/03/2013 17:19

I use agnus castus, and a spirulina and wheatgrass mixed tablet.

I swear by Agnus Castus, available from Holland and Barratt and all the usual health shops. In the past I've used Evening Primrose Oil but prefer Agnus Castus now.

I also up my intake of B Vits in the second half of cycle, and also sometimes take a magnesium tablet when I remember.

Also, wine helps Grin

Napolean When i was about 46 - the pmt that i had had most of my adult life became a bit all over the place and a bit more pronounced - it wasn't just for the 2 weeks leading up to my period but on and off all the time. i went to my gp and he told me to keep a diary of my symptoms and when i had them and the intensity on a scale of 1 -5 -he took some blood to test hormone levels and it turned out i was perimenopausal -what i'm saying is that it might be worth checking if this is whats happening to you.

I vote for evening primrose oil - also magnesium, b6, vit c, bit b and zinc

Thank you.

I was just on Amazon and have put the following in my basket:
Agnus Castus
Magnesium OK
Vit B Complex

Hope it helps.

Toast, are you asking about the spirulina tablets?
I'll check when I get home and let you know.

Vitamin Bs and evening primrose oil really help me.

Plus, I recently discovered evening primrose oil to be amazing as an overnight moisturiser.
