greying hair ...

I have very dark brown curly mid-length hair, with grey coming through. Have decided I no longer want to dye all my hair, but is there a way of dying the grey hairs another colour - like, a lighter brown or even (gasp!) blond without changing the colour of the rest of it? Anyone done this?

I'm in the process of going grey, I've got about half a head of grey at the moment, I haven't used a proper hair dye for over a year, to try and avoid any root growth I asked my friend (who's a colourist) for advice and she ended up doing my hair for me.

She just did the T section for me using lowlights and highlights to break up the root area and she did something else that brighten up the grey I already had everywhere else, my root growth looks blended and natural and as if the colour is on purpose. I will keep having my hair done like this until I've got root to tip grey.

I did read somewhere that if you only have a few greys some of the shampoos you can buy for brunette hair can help dull the grey colour
