Ossie Clark vintage sizing

Hi all

I'm interested in buying a vintage Ossie Clark dress from the 1970s, but I'm really unsure on sizing and wondered if anyone could help please ?

I'm 24 years old so I don't have any experience of 1970s sizing, the dress I have seen is a size 10, and I am a size 6-8 in most high street shops today. Unfortunately the dress does not have any measurements listed, does anyone know if this is at all likely to fit me please?

Can you not contact the shop/person selling it and ask for measurements?

Thank you for the info. I thought that might be the case, maybe I would need a 12. I have contacted the person selling it for the measurements but they haven't replied at the moment.

Yes, get the measurements.
I think mine was a 12 from memory and to sell it I had to get a friend who was a small size 8 to model it.
The trouble is the 10/12 and over sizes are hard to get hold of. Mine sold for just under £400 four or five years ago.
Check the labels etc to make sure it is genuine. Mine was my mothers.

Hmm it might be more tricky than I thought as its on EBay. I've always wanted one, but they tend to be very expensive whereas I was hoping to get a bargain for £200ish but maybe it is wishful thinking.

I run an online vintage fashion boutique so I can hopefully help you. Does it say the dress is a modern size 10 or does it say the vintage label says a 10? If the vintage label of an Ossie is a UK 10 then that is a modern UK 6. The general rule is to go down two sizes for a realistic modern size. Lynnette, Lovely's Vintage Emporium xxxx

My mum had Ossie Clark dresses in a size 10. I was a size 6/8 when I found them in the loft and tried them on! They are quite tiny.
