Gross toe nail- help needed

I had a split in my big toe nail, and when i spent too long in the hot tub on a spa day it split most of the way across my big toe horizontally and the broken part is raising up from the nail bed. It's 2/3 of the way down from the free edge.

I'm due to go on holiday in 3 weeks time- first time away without the kids in 8 years!! It's going to be hot and I want to wear flipflops.

Nail varnish won't disguise it. Could I have an acrllic nail applied to disguise it? Or would this damage the nail even further when i have to have it removed?

Do acryllics even have to be removed? I'm such a novice, i don't know!

Can someone save me from the ignominy of having a revolting big toe nail?

Get an acrylic one, they can be removed iirc.

It'll grow back eventually.

Sorry to be boring but I've had problems with a big toe nail in past and I really recommend that instead of covering it up you go to a qualified chiropodist to sort it by cutting and filing it down properly asap and then have a pedicure just before holiday. I learnt the hard way that beauty therapists haven't got the knowledge to deal with damaged nails. Better to have the nail a but shorter but properly cared for than be in pain as I was.

Thanks polyhymnia and fluffy, I'll make an appt then see about an acryllic just before I go away, if the chiropodist says it's OK.

See a chiropodist who does Wilde Pedique nails - they are exactly for this sort of thing
