Navy Blue and Black

I have bought this mac from Warehouse

[http://www.warehouse.co.uk/belted-short-mac/coats-&-jackets/warehouse/fcp-product/4239279436 mac]

When I tried it on in the shop I was utterly certain it was black. But it isn't, it's navy blue.
My work dress code is black trousers/skirt. My mother (who is by no means a style icon, lots of track suit bottoms and Cotton Traders fleeces) always told me it was a crime against colours to wear navy blue and black together? Am I breaking every style rule by wearing my new coat to work?
Will anyone notice?

No -navy and black looks great together, as long as they're decent clothes and not all faded. That rule is for oldies only!

I have a French Connection one which is similar when I wear black with it it looks blue when I wear blue with it it looks black looks fine with either decided the colour must be blue/black Grin

I love navy and black together. Classy and interesting. Charitygirl is right though - faded black leggings and a navy fleece wouldn't count Grin

I'm wearing a navy dress with black cardigan and tights today, and I look awesome Grin

Well I am grateful and relieved. I will wear my back and navy together with pride!
