What's the best one? Will it really stop me looking shiny flaky and rubbish? I await the wisdom of the collective Thanks

My foundation goes on a lot easier with primer and my skin just generally looks and feels better with it on. Have tried loads but my current favourite is Estée Lauder Illuminating Primer

You'll get posters raving about Smashbox and Laura Mercier too. Haven't tried the LM one and wasn't impressed by Smashbox though they have loads depending on what you want/need it for.

I have the No7 Mattifying one and I don't really like it. It feels like a clay mask on, doesn't seem to stop oils breaking through and doesn't mask my pores (which is what I am really bothered about).

I might try the Benefit Porefessional one, but tbh in the 4-5 I have tried none of them seem to make much of a difference.

Graceparkhill · 14/03/2013 20:40

I use an Urban Decay one- felt obliged to buy after lovely lady in Jenners gave me a make over. Much to my surprise it does make a difference. I have very dry skin and it makes my foundation go on more smoothly

Laura Mercier is great for me - moisturising one as I am a crocodile

Hmmmmm.... Interesting... I have read loads about Barbara Daly and the smashbox ones. Is MUA superdrug??? I have shiny oily skin by the end of the day, don't want moisturising, need mattifying!!

Many thanks folks, xx

I use Benefit Porefessional and really like it. Makes my liquid foundation last longer and goes on more smoothly.

MillyMollyMandy78 · 14/03/2013 21:25

I have recently bought the Barbara Daly one after reading about it on here and it's amazing! Would definately recommend it! I tried Smashbo a while ago but i found that it was a bit too greasy for my skin. It actually smudged my eye make up. Primer definately make my make up look much better - it stops it getting creased in the fine lines around my eyes and avoids the patchy look when you have a bit of dry skin

gracelesslady · 14/03/2013 22:30

I wish I could get samples of them all and try. There seems to be a gulf between the not-very-many-pounds ones and the ones that cost £££££

Perhaps I have to be patient and work through them all...

I have a smashbox one and I love it.

kaumana · 14/03/2013 22:41

I have found that GOSH (found at Superdrug) the best so far.

motherofluvlies · 14/03/2013 22:47

Used bare minerals until....I discovered Barbara Daly ,Tesco. In fact I just wears it on its own. It,s amazing.

bulletproofgerbil · 15/03/2013 06:45

I'm not mad about the Smashbox one either. V greasy. I like the Benefit Pore Professional best. I seemed to get through the Barbara Daly one v quickly which defeated the fact that it was a good price. But yes, I do find they make my make up look better. With the Smashbox one I don't know if it actually makes it last longer though.

Snoozy1 · 15/03/2013 11:03

I second MUA. I have their matte perfect primer and it's the same consistency as the Porefessional but only costs £4! They've just brought out another one called undress your skin, but I haven't tried that yet.

Naysa · 15/03/2013 11:18

I've used GOSH in the past and frankly it was a rip off.

It was quite expensive, for me, there wasn't a lot of product and it was pants. It had a strange texture IMO.

I've also used this Rimmel one I thought it was great, great price, good texture and I noticed it held my foundation on more.
The only downside was that half of the contents had been emptied when I bought it Hmm I was annoyed so make sure you get an unopened one.
