100% Polyester - good or bad?

I'm trying to find a dress to wear to a wedding (on a bit of a tight budget). I have seen some I quite like the look of but they're all made from 100% polyester. Is that a bad thing? I'll be wearing thick black tights aswell so will I be dealing with the dreaded static dress-stuck-to-legs scenario???

Also, I cant put a link on here but the dress I think I prefer is the Photo Floral Skater dress from Oasis (which i would wear with a black belt). Do you think that would be weddingy enough? Or do you have any better suggestions? I'm short and size 10 and would ideally like to spend less than £70. Thanks Smile

I haven't looked at the dress but if you do get the dreaded static, pin a small metal safety pin to the hem. Voila.

Ah I don't know if poly is that bad,I think when your on a budget that's what you get as the better fabrics cost more.

I have an event and picked a beautiful dress ( i think!) its 90% poly and my nose did a small twitch but ya know its 30 quid.
(incase your still looking I got mine on bohoo.com)

Loads of clothes are polyester at the moment, even in more high end shops. Just don't stand too close to a naked flame Smile

cotton or silk slip under?

(isn't there a rule like 'cotton under polyester, polyester under cotton' to avoid cling?)

safety pin sounds like a cool tip - I want to try it!

Some polyester is fine & feels like heavy silk crepe if its good quality.

Everything is polyester at the moment it seems.

My advice - get thee to John Lewis and buy a can of anti-static spray. You'll find it next to the fabric dyes. Spray all over your dress and keep away from naked flames! The spray really does work wonders at keeping the cling away Smile

or just hairspray...
