All of the other ones are closed now and I still need some help!

Thank you Sorrel, I asked in my local independent lingerie store today but they do not stock much below a 32" band size, so I will head to a bigger town as soon as I get chance.

WileyRoadRunner · 09/04/2013 15:53

This thread has completely opened my eyes - I measure 28" round chest/35 round bust and am wearing a 32B Blush. Have always thought they looked ok!

Think I have no idea and better start buying some bras!

MostFamousMonkey · 09/04/2013 16:10

Would anyone mind giving me a bit of advice please? I always used to get fitted for bras at a very old fashioned ladies undergarments shop in the city I lived in. Always pleased with my purchases. However I moved away and drifted into the bad habit of just buying something from M&S Blush

Anyway, I'm small breasted, probably a B/C cup, with a large back. I've been wearing a 40B which is a hard size to find, but haven't measured recently. I need underwired bras because they seem to go out to the side and need pulling into the centre IYSWIM. Also need to maximise them because I'm pear shaped with huge bum and thighs . Still quite perky for my age due to the lack of size probably, so droop isn't a problem yet.

I do plan to find somewhere that knows how to measure properly - may try JL? However, a problem I've been having a lot lately is that the underwire digs in under my armpit area. I've got two or three different style bras and they are all doing the same thing. Any clues as to the problem here?

Silverstar2 · 09/04/2013 16:31

Hello All!

Well I am still not totally happy with my bras. I know that the best style for me is a full cup (that's what Bravissimo say and I agree), but then they always seem to dig in under my arms. I measure 35.5 under, and about 46/47 over, and have gone from a 38D to a 34H, but have tried the andorra, (ouch) Panache Melody full cup (not so bad but still a bit ouch under the arm) and although I like the Cleo Juna styles, they are a bit narrow in the band under the arm so I still get a bulge under my arm and back fat.

Hmmmm just thought - are all those ones I mention by Panache? What other full cups can I try? Have also tried the Kara and Elodie by Fanatsie - can't do those side supports, they are like torture! Just sent back a Bravissimo Pretty as a pin full cup as the shape was all wrong on me.

Heelllppppppp!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
(please?)

SorrelForbes · 09/04/2013 16:47

MostFamousMonkey I am to hazzard a guess and say that you are almost certainly wearing the wrong size. Can you post (or pm) your measurements as instructed here?

MostFamousMonkey · 09/04/2013 17:02

Sorrel , 38 around and 45 bent over. 38 was firm but not tight. No wonder these 40B's are hurting me and riding up all the time Blush. What cup size do I need to look at?

MostFamousMonkey · 09/04/2013 17:03

I mean not painfully tight.

TigerseyeMum · 09/04/2013 17:41

I'm not sure which bras I bought, one full, pinky nude one and one lowish satin cream one.

I used to wear 32B as well. And I'm 28 E!!!

Marks and spencer were hopeless and they don't stock my size anyway now so I am not bothering with them again. More choice in a 28 would be nice though, even Bravissimo didn't have many.

SorrelForbes · 09/04/2013 17:41

I'd say try a 38F and similar sizes (e.g. a 38E, FF). You may want to try a 36 band too (especially if the 40 you're wearing is riding up a lot) but remember to go up at least a cup size, maybe two.

The blog has some info about trying on bras and getting the band sorted first and then working out the cup.

SorrelForbes · 09/04/2013 17:42

So many typos in my last few posts. Sorry all.

OneLittleLady · 09/04/2013 17:44

I am surprised to see, that since I was sorted by you lovely ladies and have been wearing the correct size bra, my boobs don't seem to be sagging anywhere near as much. Even without a bra on, they absolutely ARE perkier than they were. Is this common after being properly sized or have I experienced a miracle?!

MostFamousMonkey · 09/04/2013 18:08

Thanks so much Sorrel. I've read through the blog since I posted and it's very helpful. I have a lot of breast under my arm, ie they are more full on the outside so a larger cup makes sense so I can get all of that into the cup as well as the more obvious breast tissue.

I'm going to try a local independent bra shop one day next week, and possibly JL as well. Will update after I've been.

SorrelForbes · 09/04/2013 18:18

MostFamousMonkey Yes, please come back and update!

OneLittleLady I have no idea tbh. Mine have definitely got bigger with repeated scooping though.

OneLittleLady · 09/04/2013 18:33

Perhaps it's the scooping that's filling them out and making them appear perkier then. I have been non stop scooping and I'm amazed at how much there seems to be, my under arm bulges are getting smaller by the day

WileyRoadRunner · 09/04/2013 19:39

Sorrel where do you think I should start with 28 around and 35 bent over?

Sorry to be cheeky, you should get tips for the work you are doing on MN Smile

Where would I get reasonably priced bras with a small back size?

StatisticallyChallenged · 09/04/2013 20:12

WileyROadRunner start with a 28F and work from there.

Once you have sussed out your size the internet is your friend - Brastop, Leia, MyCurvesAndMe, Amazon, Ebay, Debenhams sales to name but a few.

Silverstar2 · 09/04/2013 20:34

Is no-one talking to me?

StatisticallyChallenged · 09/04/2013 20:55

Sorry SIlverstar - so you've tried Panache and got close but no cigar, and am I right in saying the issue with fantasie was the side supports? What was wrong with the Bravissimo Pretty as a pin up?

What else have you tried? anything from Freya, Elomi etc?

WileyRoadRunner · 09/04/2013 21:10

Thank you Sorrell Can't believe have been wearing a B, what a revelation this thread is!

marriednotdead · 09/04/2013 21:23

Evening all

Silverstar2
Was the Pretty As a Pin Up too 'sharp'? Am guessing that your boobs are rounded/shallow/more underarm than up front?

Silverstar2 · 09/04/2013 21:31

Thanks SC The Pretty as a Pin was just an awful shape, and gaped at the top - I could just see that it didn't give me the right shape iykwim. Yes the Fantasie side supports were good, and really helped with my under arm fat and back fat issues - for about 10 mins, ior untilI moved, and they really dug in - mainly due to me and my shape, as I am quite, er, rounded on my tummy and they sort of lay at an angle because of that; they sort of resembled an 'L' when I took it off - well not quite, but you get the idea.

Tried the Deco - as other have said, it really didn't work as gaped at the top. I liked the look of the Freya Faye in the shop, but the lady in bravissimo said it wasn't a good shape for me, neither was the rebecca, or the Alana, or daisy chain. God I am useless aren't I? Haven't tried Elomi yet .......

I can see that full cup work for me - I now know that I have wide set boobs with the volume at the bottom, with lots of untrained breast tissue under my arms, but because i am short - about 5 foot 1 the wire all seem to come up too far - I know they are meant to on a full cup, but it still isn't working. It is so frustrating.

Any ideas??!

Silverstar2 · 09/04/2013 21:33

Yes marriednotdead that's right about the Pretty as a Pin up.

Autumn12 · 09/04/2013 21:41

Can I please check that I have worked out my measurement correctly using this new technique? I'm a 31.5 under the bust and 36 around the fullest part- so I need a 32D ?

I've been wearing 36A cup bras for the past ten years. So it's quite a massive difference if so, though I am pregnant so my breasts are fuller than usual. The 36A's always seemed a bit baggy in the cup and if I leaned forward there would be a gap between my breast and the cup, so I had wondered if I might actually be an AA cup. However, I'm not completely flat chested though so it seemed odd that my cup size would be the smallest available.

marriednotdead · 09/04/2013 21:50

If your boobs are wider than your shoulders then perhaps the Fantasie Belle would work. Do straps fall off your shoulders? If not, wide shallow styles with short wires include Freya Untamed, Bravissimo Starburst and Dixie (same shape) and their Laurel. Belle comes up huge, the next 3 average, Laurel very small.

StatisticallyChallenged · 09/04/2013 21:51

Start with a 32D and possibly a DD Autumn. I suspect if you scoop you will find you do fill the cups on your current bra but because the back is too big the tissue won't stay in them - it'll just escape back out the sides!
