As a littley she had this fine but lots of it hair, dead straight bob with fringe. As it grew over the yrs still really straight.

She's 10 now, and got fed up and has gone shorter and shorter. Where did the thick wavy springy hair come from????

Mine is quite straight when it's long and weighty but when it's shorter, it's lighter and pings up into curls.

hormones. My cousin the same - poker straight hair untill 11, now gorgeous natural curls.

Also happened to me at menopause.....Im a curly haired old lady!

Just happens, due to hormones or enviromental factors. I had ringlety hair and then after my pregnancies it all dropped into waves and very loose dread -type curls. Hair changes as we get older too. Mine was also slightly wavy as a kid and went curly as an adult. My sister had very curly hair which only has a link now and a fine texture. Weird but true.

Happened to me about the same age. Check out the curly hair threads/ google to make the best of it. Basics are do NOT brush or comb with small toothed comb - use a vv wide toothed comb, use a shampoo and conditioner for curly hair (frizz ease or some of the Aussie stuff). I've been without my curly products for three days and look like a springy-headed frizz ball. Treated right curly hair is the best hair there is.

Most of all teach your dd to love her curly hair so she isn't a slave to straightening products for the rest of her life. Embrace the curl!!!

Mine went from poker straight to curly aged 12 - was a bit of a disaster as I was trying to grow my fringe out at the time! The wave has lessened over time and now it's just bloody unruly.

It's probably sprung up into curls as it's not being dragged down with the length.

My hair has to be kept long shoulder length as it curls up like shirley temple when it's short. I learnt that the hard way going from long to short, what I hoped was mary quant style bob, turned out I had bleeding curls.

thanks for all your messages, i was so surprised. It's always seemed so lank too, like mine!

Her dad has a slight wave to his hair, and yes she is hormones almighty poor love started her periods a yr back (at 9).

I was expecting root lankness, but it's really strong and works well with the style. I will invest in a different shampoo for her now though to tame it a little.
