I now wash my face with honey and nothing else. Much better than OCM. My skin is the softest and clearest I remember it being.
I brush my teeth with activated charcoal and my beige gnashers are actually turning white!
Thought I'd shareSmile

thanks gaggiagirl will try the ACV aswell as i think i have some in the cupboard.

when you use honey to wash your face do you need to moisturise afterwards? if so what do you use? coconut oil?

Prawntoast · 12/05/2013 17:31

honey wash is brilliant, have been using it for over a year, far less spots and softer skin, I use a little sweet almond oil as a cleanser. In the evenings I do the OCM with a mix of castor and sweet almond oil, have a combination skin and this mix seems to work best.

Prawntoast · 12/05/2013 17:32

Meant I use the almond oil as a moisturiser not for cleansing!

gaggiagirl · 12/05/2013 17:37

gg yeah it works on blackheads the first week of using honey as a mask bought every nasty up to the surface but now I'm starting to really see results especially on my acne scars
Boo my face feels so soft after the honey but I still need to moisturise I actually started a thread asking for recommendations for a good one for my spotty skin and got some amazing responses if I could do links I would sorry! But I'm going to try Vichy normaderm and avene triacneal.

Booyhoo · 12/05/2013 17:41

thanks gaggiagirl and prawntoast.

prettymum · 12/05/2013 17:42

The acv can sting at first but I don't notice any more, it smells really bad but it disappears after 15 minutes. Make sure to dilute it with water as it might be too harsh on the skin with full strength.

I don't moisturise in the evening now as the acne is clearing up and don't want to aggravate it, and in the morning I use no7 tinted moisturiser.

gaggiagirl · 12/05/2013 20:42

I'm gonna buy some it seems to have many uses and I'm guessing it's not expensive too

mashpot · 12/05/2013 20:52

Booy ginger shampoo from Bodyshop is good for dandruff prone scalps. Not too expensive

Booyhoo · 12/05/2013 21:39

thanks mashpot. will try that.

UseHerName · 12/05/2013 21:41

UseHerName · 12/05/2013 21:43

doesnt charcoal just darken the gums rather than the teeth themselves - the teeth just seem whiter against the darkened gums?

bigbuttons · 12/05/2013 21:45

The gums look zombie black! Then it all washes off, pink gums, white teeth!
I have also been making my own vit c serum, works a treat and you pay£££££££ for is in the shops.

Another vouching for ACV, I had terrible perioral dermatitis last year. I had it for about two and a half months. Due to the various medications I was on, I wasn't allowed the other medication needed to clear it.

The doctor prescribed some cream, but admitted it probably wouldn't help, and she was right.

The ACV - dabbed on with cotton wool to the affected area - cleared it up in no time at all. If I feel another flare coming, I apply again and it's gone within 36 hours.

I might try the manuka as a wash, my poor skin has taken a right hammering for the last couple of years.

Slainte · 20/07/2013 06:57

Bumping just to ask those who started this if they've seen expected results. I've got acne and scarring and am thinking of starting the regime.

I also might try the charcoal so that I can smile like this -> Grin
