Pretty nursing dress needed

Hello. I have a christening to go to with my 18week old baby and would like to buy a nursing dress for the occasion. Has anyone seen any they can recommend? I've not found anything suitable so far. I'm 5"8 and a size 16 at present and would like to look halfway decent although I'm not sure that's possible just now. Don't want to spend too much either, maybe £40? Am I asking too much?

Hi. I was BFing when I attended a wedding last year. I bought a normal dress with buttons down the front. Could unbutton and lift up vest underneath to feed. Was about £25 from ASOS. They'll have similar, I'm sure. Nursing dresses always seemed so expensive!

I have a wrap dress from a wear that's great for feeding in. There's a fox print one on asos that's the sane design.

Wore a cropped vest by the way so didn't have to unbutton to far!

*same design!

Izzy, I searched high and low last year for a nursing dress for weddings and ended up compromising and buying a dress I didn't really feel great in. I then fed baby a total of once at each wedding....so the dress was "useful" for about 40 minutes. This summer (breastfeeding again) im just going to buy a lovely dress or top/skirt and when I need to feed, find somewhere private and strip off. At least then all the time im not feeding i will feel good. Just my take on it. If you're still keen, this website seems to offer a few pretty things in the right price range. www.abeautifulmummy.co.uk/acatalog/elena-breastfeeding-dress-rose.html

Mama feels good (google it - can't work out how to link) has a nice plain dress which you could dress up with accessories.

Although I agree that it's worth considering just buying something that you actually want to wear and stripping off in the loos to feed!

I found that most nursing dresses were a bit mumsy or expensive so I too adapted normal clothes - had a great wrap-style nude top from H&M which I wore to three special occasions with different skirts and a nice scarf to drape over us both while just pulling the top aside.

This blog is a good source of inspiration for turning normal clothes into nursing clothes

Oh and whatever you decide make sure you give it whirl before the big event, nothing worse than faffing around with a new top in the middle of a bar while making small talk with a guy you knew years ago who is clearly embarrased about the whole thing. Or maybe that's just me...

I bought this for DSs' Welcome to the world party last weekend. It's gorgeous on and I got loads of compliments. I will wear it once I finish feeding as it's such a nice dress.

Thanks for the help. I'm still struggling :-( I find it hard enough feeding when sitting on a chair with no arms etc never mind attempting it in the loos so think I'm going to have to stump up for something unfortunately.

I have this one in teal blue. It is lovely with a little cardigan or shawl. The only thing is it is a bit low cut so you have to keep an eye on the visible boobage!

I have it in a large and have only worn it 3 times (2 weddings and a christening) if you'd like to borrow it. I'm a 5'6 size 16 so it should fit.

glen I would love to borrow your dress if your sure you wouldn't mind? Teal blue sounds lovely. I've been searching like mad and all I can find kind of reasonably priced is black :-(

creme I do like that dress but just not sure about to for some reason. Can't out my finger on why though!
