In need of a (flattering) high back swimming costume (possibly skirted) before I brave a pool with my giant post baby belly!

I'm hunting the probably impossible... a swimming costume with a high back which is flattering (as much as Lycra can ever be!) and possibly skirted. Around a size 12-16 depending on make I suppose. With an impressive sized belly!

If you are worried about people looking at you, a swimming costume with a skirt is much more unusual/noticeable/attention-getting than a non-skirted swimming costume with a fat or flabby or just-given-birth-shaped woman in it.

Sorry, that's no good, only in much bigger sizes than you have said.

I'm not sure how to link on my phone, but Debenhams does skirted swimsuits that are really nice.
I don't think it'll make you stand out more, they just look like short beach coverup type dresses but you can go in the water too.
I saw loads of people wearing similar things last year that's why I looked.
I got the navy pokadot one and it's lovely, it's great as its also got tummy control which is fab for my post c section flabby belly Grin.

I'm a size 12 youngish (ahem) girl and I don't think they are 'grannyish'

This has arrived today, it sounds like it will be perfect for you. I ordered it in black and poppy. They are both lovely but the black is less stand out for when wanting to sneak into the swimming pool unnoticed.

Landsend? They have this swim dress at a reasonable price but you could also mix and match a swimsuit with a 'swim mini' skirt and then when you're feeling more confident ditch the skirt.

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 07/03/2013 11:54

I think you will stand out more in a skirted costume than if you just wear something normal.

Size 12-16 is not large, it really isn't.

I think the for luna swimsuits are really flattering: www.forluna.co.uk/ though they are pricey.
