They're having a laugh, right?
What's with all of this stuff pretending to be from a Parisian flea market when we know it's all put together by 6 year old Chinese kids.
Prices are an outrage.
I quite like a lot of it but come on!!!

I have a lovely silk scarf that was bought for me by my sister from there.
Had never heard of it before, people comment on it whenever I wear it.

Didn't ever occur to me that it was cheaply made in china

sh77 · 06/03/2013 22:31

They have permanent sale rooms in the stores. I picked up some amazing bargains. Woukd never buy anything full price. Most of the stuff looks of crap quality.

womblingalong · 06/03/2013 22:36

I like it a lot, but it is very expensive!

BillStickersIsInnocent · 07/03/2013 07:37

I wondered if there'd be a thread on this, got my catalogue yesterday. It's all a bit wanky, and I loathe their anti- zara adjective heavy descriptions (especially as the Antho team come up with them, rather than designers).

But love some of it, will link in a mo.

moondog · 07/03/2013 09:04

Bill, those are nice, yes.
I went for the first time to one of their shops (in NYC) last summer and it seemed apparant to me that it was a bit of an upmarket Monsoon. Masquerading as boho and eclectic but in reality a complete lifestyle designed and delivered.

It's owned by the same people as Urban Outfitters isn't it - so when you grow out of UO you switch to Anthologie... Similar slightly shoddy manufacture but some gorgeous stuff.

EarlyInTheMorning · 07/03/2013 09:24

Some lovely and unusual stuff mixed up with complete tat, all of it massively overpriced.

hortensemancini · 07/03/2013 10:41

I love browsing in Anthro and the website is lovely, but the clothes I've bought there haven't been worn at all much. I think it's one of those places where everything makes perfect sense when you see it in the shop, then you get your drapey purchase home and think, hang on, this is a bit Per Una, isn't it...

It's the scented candles they burn. They do something to your head.

Corygal · 07/03/2013 11:21

They sell very good scent - St Honore des Pres and things. I've bought interesting small Xmas presents there too - but the clothes are a flamin rip off, in every sense.

moondog · 07/03/2013 11:26

hang on, this is a bit Per Una, isn't it...

Their homeware stuff is lovely. They've got at least 5 bowls, jugs and plates I
don't need in the slightest must have. Grin

Liking the cut of your jib, OP Grin

JackieTheFart · 07/03/2013 19:30

I'd never even heard of them till I joined Pinterest! I like some of the home stuff but not the clothes. Those boots are proper nasty.

PretzelTime · 07/03/2013 20:14

Agree moondog. I don't get the appeal. A lot of it looks like home made hippie dresses sewn from leftover fabrics...but they aren't even the real deal, they're made cheaply in China and expensive Confused

germyrabbit · 07/03/2013 20:15

do they still have that black wallpaper with bong sniffing woodland animals? loved that

PretzelTime · 07/03/2013 20:24

...bong sniffing woodland animals? Really?

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 07/03/2013 21:55

Ridiculously expensive and rather cutesy but a lot of it is very 'me' (except I can't afford any of it).

This for example

and this

love this

and this

mutantninjamyrtle · 07/03/2013 23:43

They do some great shoes, and some grim clothes. I couldn't see much of worth in the latest catalogue.

But I feel the same as the OP about Cos - why pay so much to look like a shapeless womble?
