Spotty back + backless dress

I know this is a bit gross, so apologies. I'd just like some advice. I have the most beautiful, beautiful backless silk dress that I've been planning to wear this weekend. But of course, for some unknown reason, my back has broken out with some spots. I'm not talking acne, but they are fairly numerous and very noticeable to me. Over the last few days I've been exfoliating, wearing cotton, applying tea tree lotion and acne cream. The spots have improved, but I still think my back looks bad.

My question is this: do you think it'll be possible/a good idea to apply makeup to my back to cover any spots that are still there come Saturday? I've never applied makeup to my body before - is this done? Can anyone advise on the best way of doing this? One of my concerns is that I'm not all that familiar with the skin tone of my back, which I imagine is probably a bit different to the skin on my face. I'm worried about the makeup showing up really obviously in patches on my back. I can't apply it all over my back, surely?? Thanks for any advice, I know this is weird.

Any tips on getting rid of these damn spots would also be great.

Thank you so much!

I think you should wear something else sorry! a backless dress is lovely but not unless your skin is OK.

How about a fake tan?

In terms of getting rid of them, Boots do a vitamin / mineral supplement that is good for skin. Plus up your fruit / veg and water intake. Sudocreme is good for healing skin.

Do you have a really honest friend who you can ask to take a look the day before and tell you whether you should wear it?

But I think you may want to have a back up outfit at the ready.

Try a fake tan, it will help to hide them a little, otherwise I think you may well need a back up.

Thanks so much everyone!!

I didn't mention that my hair will be down, which will cover the majority of them. I'm also planning on sticking on a bit of tanning moisturiser in the hope that'll help a bit. A lot of the 'spots' are actually just red marks where spots were a few days ago, so perhaps Sudocrem will help with those, all great suggestions thanks!

I think I'll try to conceal any visible marks with makeup and hope for the best. So annoying that I've been planning to wear this dress for weeks and suddenly I'm breaking out right in the crucial area!

Thanks again.

sudocrem thick layer before bed and a tight vest to sleep in then get a friend to hep with a layer of foundation or sally hansen leg spray stuff which is more likely to stay put and not mark your dress like makeup might. have a good time.

You can get a back 'facial' at some salons. Go somewhere good, they will sort it.

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 09/03/2013 11:50

I wouldn't use makeup, you could end up looking awful because it will show up under different light etc.

Second the back 'facial' recommendation.

You can definately apply make up all over your body if you want. Mac do a face and body one as do este lauder and I think most brands.

If you have / can get any mineral make up that would work well.

Do you have any girl friends / relatives they will be the best bet to get a even courage.

I am not suggesting this by the way BUT

I have a bad scar on my back and I many years ago fell in love with a backless evening dress (the sort that skims the top of you but cheeks) and a friend of mine (tatoist sp) painted a full lenght dragon on my back in body paint. It look fab with my very simple dress, covered my scar and everyone thought I was very brave for showing my tatoo! Wink
