I would appreciate suggestions for long summer ballgowns for a buxom twenty year old. Thank you.

What sort of budget?

this is great, love the red one. But, do you mean a traditional ballgown?

What's your height, shape and colouring?

LittlePandaBear · 03/03/2013 20:15

Lipsy have some nice long dresses for a youngster!

iheartshoes · 03/03/2013 22:33

Try Coast, lots of lovely dresses in there , bought one for a wedding last year and you can pick shoes in the same colour fabric as the dress to match

Sokmonsta · 03/03/2013 22:38

Debenhams. All mine come from there. Especially when they have a sale

Lipsy I find less successful with busty bosom.

I'm curious: do women really wear ballgowns these days? I've never been to a ball but assumed they would wear cocktail dresses - I'm kind of surprised you can even buy full-length gowns.

the minute you call it a GOWN it becomes all Barbara Cartland

Ball gown because long. Pale skin brown hair with red tinges. green brown eyes. 5 6. Budget flexible

Debenhams, H of F, Coast and Monsoon. DD struck lucky in Monsoon for her prom dress (long and unfussy) as the colour was just 'right'. It had another outing at a Ball last year (and got very muddy). She can't wear it again this year but it will probably reappear at some stage (has been dry-cleaned). She also has a gown from Coast that was significantly reduced due to a pulled thread. (Easily sorted.)

I'd say, look for the colour first. Dark blue, dark green?

I wouldn't advise a strapless dress due to her shape (and modesty Grin).

Try this www.coast-stores.com/goddess-maxi-dress/dresses/coast/fcp-product/2224751670

V neck and jersey v handy for bigger bust.

harbinger · 04/03/2013 17:26

YY to V neck. Not sure about that dress though Enjoy as it's backless. I know you can get loads of clever bras but if someone is well endowed it can leave them feeling a bit restricted (in movement) or vulnerable.

funnyperson · 05/03/2013 20:08

Love the neck but its true- backless can be tricky for busty girls as the multiway bras dont give enough support
