I want to try fake tan for the first time ever. Just want to look less milk coloured pale; not after deep bronze -or orange

I've heard its important to exfoliate first, but what does that mean ? A bit of body scrub whilst showering???

Can you suggest an idiot proof product i can use?

And do I need special gloves?

Please tell me everything you know so I don't end up streaky

Scrub in the shower with an exfoliator, especially on knees elbows and ankles. I would advise to use a gradual moisturising tan like dove, johnsons or palmers cocoa butter. You don't need to wear gloves but do make sure to wash the palms of your hands after applying to avoid them being orange!

Hope this helps! Smile

I use Garnier cream as I find the smell quite nice instead of pungent!

You don't need to use a mit but I do as I find it makes the product cover better, a cheap primark one will do the job easily. The beauty of the Garnier is it builds up gradually for a more natural look.

I also occasionally top mine up with Boots Soltan spray. You would need a mit for that, but I like that you can see where it has gone on before it develops, so you don't tend to overdo it.

The Garnier spray is nice too but you can't see where it has gone on, and after a rather horrific toxic looking incident I've stayed away from it since.

Loreal dry mist. Doesn't leave that horrible sticky feeling and you can get dressed straight away. Comes in 3 different tones (dark one only just released) and doesn't smell as awful as the rest - and I've tried em all!

Everything streaks on me!

I'm pale with cool (pinky) toned skin and I use St Moritz mousse. I put it on using latex gloves as I found the mitts soaked up half the mousse.

It doesn't streak and isn't orange on me like a lot of others. I don't have much experience of the gradual ones as I can't be arsed to put it on every day!
