I know this has been done to death I'm sorry but I wonder if anyone could help/advise me please?

I'd like the Didrikson Cathlyn, does anyone have one? If so, how would you rate it please?

Also, does anyone know when is the best time to buy a proper expensive winter coat like that? I'd like to try and get it reduced. The only place I can find them in the uk is vikingkids but I've only ever bought something in the kids sections reduced.

Any advice gratefully received!!

William Laws in Kirkcudbright was where I got my Lindsay parka, and the customer service was REALLY good and £25 cheaper than Viking Kids.

Thank you Wildfig, I have had a look there and they don't seem to have anything in my size, or the Cathlyn. Thanks though, I might email them and see if they plan to stock it.

Hello. I have this coat. I love it, and have worn it almost every day since the beginning of October. It's really handy, and I see it lasting me years. not cheap of course, but worth it IMO. Got it from Viking Kids.

Definitely worth giving them a call - they're one of the main stockists in the UK and were really helpful when I had a problem with mine. You might be able to get something shipped in!

hi, have the cathlyn in grey, got it from Viking kids, great service, very friendly.
coat coming up very big, so size down, maybe even 2 sizes! the zip is not easy/ sort of broken, but can't live without so will only repair it when the weather gets better.

Fab, thanks all.

Oakmum and Curtsey, does it look smart in real life? Is the waxy finish crackly when you move or is it quite discreet??! Has it kept you warm in the snow and if so, how many layers did you have to wear underneath?

Sorry for all the questions!

Hm, it's a bit crackly, but not too bad? I also have it in grey and yes, I think it does look smart. Particularly from the back. It's kept me brilliantly warm - it's very good at blocking out icy winds. I tend to just wear normal layers underneath, not too many, as I get quite warm when walking.

The zip, yes, is the only pain. It's stiff and it takes a while to get the knack of it. I'm fine with it now but it took me about a week of getting cross with it!

Curtsey · 28/02/2013 10:12

Oh and yes, size down.

My zips broken too. Otherwise fabulous coat!
