Has anybody else tried. I have bought cheaper versions before which have been great, but this just doesnt work. Has anybody else tried this, and would i be able to return to boots.

Ha you tried another magnet on it?
I have a few magnetics, different brands and randomly, one of the Barry M's magnets doesn't work, but is fine with magnets from other bottles.

Are you using 2 coats of polish? Essie recommend allowing one coat to fully dry, then using magnet quickly on a second coat.

I've just tried it this morning and yes, it is pretty rubbish! Have only done one hand so far as it's such a faff. Two nails out of five worked first time. Another nail needed a third coat to work, another nail needed a fourth coat but the snakeskin effect only covers half the nail. My thumbnail I've now given about seven coats of polish to (will use the whole bottle at this rate) and it just won't work at all.

I've just tried the thumb of my other hand and again, have tried three times with a fresh coat each time, holding the magnet over it for half a minute and nothing at all! Angry I don't think I can be bothered with this - I wonder if Boots will give me a refund ...

Thanks lurking glad its not just me, followed the instructions exactly and have tried cheaper ones before, which are brilliant. I still have my reciept so will try for a refund....

Why do you want magnetic nails?

buttercrumble · 27/02/2013 12:50

I took mine back to boots today , they refunded my money no problem.

You could try holding a fridge magnet over it instead - is a bit less fiddly.
I do this with my sensationail magnetic ones if I want stripes instead of a star effect

OneHundredSecondsofSolitude · 28/02/2013 13:34

But what does it dooooooo?

Seriously, I'm intrigued

jackstini · 04/03/2013 20:28

Onehundred - it is nail polish with tiny iron filings in - so you paint it on, then hold a magent over and it makes a pattern on your nails
gel version that I use
