Retinol A advice

MummysLittleSunbeams · 24/02/2013 19:52

To all users of retinol A - where is the best place online to buy it & what strength should I start with?

My skin is like an old leather handbag slightly wrinkled & I have a couple of age spots.

Thanks 'o wise ones! Grin

I was using ROC Wrinkle Filler every other night and found that this gave a really good result. On the advice of my dermatologist I tried alternating the ROC with SkinCeuticals Retinol 0.5%, but found that it was just too much for my skin - got all red and sensitive. She said that this can happen when your skin is starting to get used to it, but as I was doing fine with ROC every other day, I have decided to go back to this and just use the Retinol 0.5% once a week. So far so good.
I think it is better to start with a weaker strength and see how your skin responds. And I think it is important to make sure that the rest of your skincare is suitable for your skin type.

ROC is widely available, including through Boots online. I got my Skin Ceuticals via a seller I've used for years on Ebay. But I think they do it on Amazon and possibly HQHair.

I have just bought 0.025% cream off amazon, the seller doesn't have it anymore but other people are selling it on there.

I'm using it every other night, a pea sized blob 45 mins after cleansing and not on areas that I know will dry out eg the bit around my chin dries out really quickly in winter.

I'm using a proper 30spf sunscreen every day and avoiding other exfoliants like salycilic acid.

So far a minor chin breakout but no dryness or scaling.

Thanks ladies, cardamom whats the name of the eBay seller you use? There is a lot of retinol a for sale on there, I want to make sure I buy the real stuff & not something that's going to rot my face off!
