I have a night out planned on saturday my first ever birthday party

I have bought this Dress

I don't know how to wear it ... I was thinking of wearing my hair wavy, (I have long brown hair) with red nails and lips and black shoes / sandals? I want new shoes

Or should I keep things more neutral? or should I add a splash of colour??? Confused

Or is the dress too twee?? I have only been out a couple of times since I've had my 13 month old DD and this is the first night out with DP so want to look nice. Grin

Firstly, where is the party? And is it a very special occasion? (E.g 50th birthday). The dress is a pretty colour and I like the sparkles but it is very smart.

It's in a posh bar. We have an area booked.

LOL - Oh no does it look like a dress a 50 year old would wear? I am 32! Blush so not a 'special' birthday but I've never had any kind of party before so it's special to me.

The dress is lovely. I think it is quite delicate though, so maybe black would overpower it a bit. Maybe something a bit more neutral.

ahhh ok... so maybe nude shoes? Just worried about looking too matchy-matched

That is a stunning dress - good find! Haha I want!

I think wavy hair, with a side parting will look great - a very vintage look!

Red lipstick will look very striking against the cream colour (and your dark hair), so I definitely recommend red lipstick, and try to keep the rest of your make- up quite simple, try neutral colours for eyeshadow.

In terms of shoes, I think either black or nude shoes will look fine :-)

If you are wearing jewelry I would also keep it simple, a pearl necklace or earrings would look really good.

I hope that helped!

What about red shoes?

ItsintheBag · 21/02/2013 16:11

I love the dress.Love it.

Let the dress do the talking.I think nude shoes, and simple jewelry.Enjoy yourself.

Red lips and nails for sure!

The dress is quite 1920's so maybe some shoes in a style from that era. Metallic would look great

Lovely dress, you'll look great. I'd go nude with the shoes, but black would work too.

Thankyou - queef love the shoes - don't have time to order online so I will have a nosey round the shops on my day off tomorrow.

Thanks joey and itsinthebag the dress is lovely on - very flattering and feels expensive as its so heavily beaded.

The dress is beautiful and I like the shoes in the last post.

Pearl jewellery would look good too.

Have fun at the party.
