fair trade dresses

So one of my new years resolutions was to try and only buy fair trade or second hand. So far so good. But it's my first wedding anniversary coming up and my dh has told me he's taking us somewhere nice for the night.

I really want to get a new dress. I can find lots of lovely fair trade dresses but nothing quite 'dressy' enough. Everything I've gound is all sort of Fat Face, White stuff style and I'm looking for something a bit more French Connectiony if that makes any sense.

If anyone has any ideas as to where to start looking I'd 've really grateful.

The only brand I can think of is People Tree. Perhaps Howies have something too.

2nd hand may be the best way to go, for a night out?

What size/shape/colouring are you??

You might be suited to a mumsnetter's unwanted dress'

I've had some things from The People Tree, but they're not really dressy things

Could you hire something, that feels like it is on a par to me but it might not to you.

Hi, good on you.

A few suggestions of places to look:

this blog has loads of links to ethical sites, though you may need to trawl through quite a few posts.

this is a search engine for ethical clothing.

good website with wide range.

or oxfam online for second hand.

Let us know what you pick!

Thanks so much for all the ideas!

I'll have a search through and see what I can find. I hadn't even considered hiring something, that could definitely be a good way to do it.
