Anyone had a perm lately?

Are they any better than the horrors of my youth?

I've been pondering a perm for a while although my hairdresser looked like I'd gone stark staring mad when I mentioned it to her as my hair is very fine and quite flat.

I don't want curls, more a slight wave to give it a bit of ooomph.

I've got a Babylis Big Hair which I hoped would be the answer, but I just ended up with news-reader hair, I want more flicky and wavy if you see what I mean

Any experiences?

I was thinking about it, my hairdresser also looked at me as if I'd taken leave of my senses. I get the impression it would be more curly than wavy. I too want wavy/big loose curls.

I think it's a body wave perm we're after - milder lotion and large rods to get big waves rather than curls, but I've been a bit scared by Googling it as there seems to be a large number of Poodle style disasters.

I just want ooomph-y hair, rather than dead straight

I like the sound of this as well, although you'd maybe have to go to a posh London salon to find someone properly trained?

Yes I was hearing about 'new perms' and wondered whether to consider one. But my hair is very fine so maybe it would look awful. I just fancied a change, something a bit different!

I want a perm! These digital ones sound good...maybe?!

I had a perm about six years ago. My hair is also fine, very straight and flat. When it was wet or if I put any curling moose in my hair it was rather poodle like and looked wet and greasy but as it dried the curls loosened and gave me a nice soft wave with volume. The hairdresser warned me of this so I didn't get a fright the first time I washed it.
