Starting again from scratch - what make up would you recommend?

I'm having a clear out, and not being the biggest make up wearer in the world, I've got a make up bag full of ancient mascaras, knackered lip sticks and clogged up tubes of foundation

I've been quite deluded lucky and got away with a whizz of mascara and lip gloss, but looking at myself this morning, I do need a bit extra. I don't scare small children, but I do have dark circles and my skin isn't what it used to be.

I don't like looking like I am wearing make up, so as natural looking as possible, unless I'm going out-out when I like a bit of bling

So, if you were starting again from scratch, what would you buy?

I don't like to look too made up. I use No7 Intelligent Colour Foundation which is really lightweight. Then I use No7 Beautiful Eyes Eyebow Pencil and No7 Intense Volume Mascara both in Brown/Black. I then line and fill my lips in with No 7 Precision Lip Pencil in Melon and then add a touch of No 7 Sheer Temptation Lipstick in Attract.

Another vote for Intelligent Colour foundation. I used to be a foundation hater, preferring to wear tinted moisturiser instead. IC is brilliant. It is very lightweight and I love the texture. I just add some blusher and lipstick and I'm done. I don't bother with my eyes as I wear glasses, have dark eye lashes anyway and my eyes are too wrinkly for eye-shadow Sad

Thank you!

I'll go and hunt out the IC stuff. I feel like I'm wearing a mask in foundation so that sounds right up my street!

If I was starting again completely and money was no object, I'd buy -
Bare Minerals starter set
Lancome Definicils mascara
Urban Decay Naked eye shadow set
Benetint
2 Soap and Glory lipsticks
Brown Urban Decay eyeliner
I could get by most days and nights with that tbh.

If money was an issue (ie reality) I'd get:
Garnier anti aging BB cream in light
Max Factor mascara
Max Factor creme blush
The same brown eyeliner as above
1 Soap and Glory lipstick
A pot of pink vaseline
One brown eyeshadow from Mac (would rather have just one good one than lots of not so good ones)

Thanks!

I'll have a browse!

I don't think you can use Benetint on your cheeks with Bare Minerals.

freddiefrog · 17/02/2013 18:13

Ok, confused with the Bare Minerals

Would something like this work to start with

m.houseoffraser.co.uk/BareMinerals+Fresh+Fabulous/180475236,default,pd.html

I have some spare cash, but don't want to spend loads if I end up hating it

Do I choose a shade that suits my skin tone?

How does it work?

Thanks!

At the moment I use:

Laura Mercier primer
Laura Mercier tinted moisturiser (combo of normal and illuminating)
Laura Mercier secret camouflage concealer
Lancôme Hypnose Mascara
Estée Lauder pure colour lipgloss in brazen berry.

I've used Benetint and Bare Minerals together lots of times with no probs at all.
