That means that I am at last 13 years out of date in my "what looks nice" ideas.

Oh dear.

Hmm...I do love GG but I've never thought of Stars Hollow as a one of the great catwalks of the world. Unless we're talking about Emily's twins sets, that's style.

Trills · 15/02/2013 14:49

I like Lorelai's flippy skirts.

I shouldn't be allowed on S&B Blush

I always love to see how TV shows (in particular) use wardrobe to frame character. Deb from Dexter - does anybody watch that? She wears things like aviators, slim shirts tucked into 70s denim flares, belt with big buckles...and her hair and makeup is really clean and understated, which chimes in with her no-bullshit character.

Twin Peaks - who remembers Josie Packard's wardrobe? All of those dramatic black silks and red outfits. Shady lady stuff.

Also, the characters in House - Foreman's wardrobe is elegant and conservative, Chase is sort of preppy, House himself is very laid-back stylish, while Cuddy is all about the very tight tailoring...

I think about this stuff way too much.

Sex and the city! I love carries manolos and charlottes 50s style looks.

QueefLatina · 15/02/2013 15:17

Carrie Bradshaw forever!

nonpractisingVirgin · 15/02/2013 15:25

Marnie & Jessa in Girls - would love to have either of their, very different styles

TheCountessOlenska · 15/02/2013 15:27

Meg Ryan in You Got Mail Blush

TheCountessOlenska · 15/02/2013 17:02

Gosh I've killed the thread with Meg Ryan!

I love her black tights, sensible flat shoes and grey cardigans in that film - think she looked good in Sleepless in Seattle too!

ScentedNappyHag · 15/02/2013 17:02

Christina Hendricks in Mad Men. 'nuff said Smile

poppy283 · 15/02/2013 17:15

Robin Wright in House of Cards gives me hair, wardrobe, job and house envy!

Serena VDW, Carrie Bradshaw obviously.

Claudia Winkleman wears black very well.

Bonsoir · 15/02/2013 18:05

Betty Draper Seasons 1-4 of Mad Men
Megan Draper Season 4 & 5 of Mad Men
Sally Draper Season 4 & 5 of Mad Men

lurkingaround · 15/02/2013 20:28

New girl/Zooey Deschanel. Ever so slightly girls but I like her style.

BloooCowWonders · 15/02/2013 20:34

CJ Cregg in the West Wing. Grown up style.

lurkingaround · 15/02/2013 20:38

Typo, Zooey Deschanel, ever so slightly girly not girls.

MarshaBrady · 15/02/2013 20:41

Love Bonsoir's answer Grin

I was going to say

Betty Draper in riding kit

Blair Waldorf in Gossip Girl

MarshaBrady · 15/02/2013 20:43

But only about half of Blair's wardrobe.

There's got to be others....

Curtsey · 16/02/2013 17:28

Oh yes, Bonsoir. I love how Megan was styled the last few seasons of MM. Can't wait for the next season.

clippityclop · 16/02/2013 21:19

Quite agree with you re Meg Countessa! Haven't seen her in anything new for ages...

Bonsoir · 17/02/2013 10:01

We went to a party last night. DD's choice of clothing was entirely informed by her girl crush on Sally Draper - Charabia white lace over pink overlay waisted dress, green cardigan, silver ballet flats and a mini-trench!

pickledsiblings · 17/02/2013 13:25

What was really scary was that with a few extra pounds, Betty completely lost her appeal. I quite liked Joan's wardrobe but wouldn't have the rack myself Smile.

scarlet76 · 17/02/2013 17:04

All of Claudia's dresses when presenting SCD.
Sara Lund's jumpers
Carrie Bradshaw's quirky look

Bonsoir · 17/02/2013 17:11

Fat Betty wore tents, though, whereas voluptuous Joan wore figure-fitting.
