Ok - unlike lots of mners (it seems) I can't afford hundreds on a handbag, but I'm still choosy and cannot entertain pleather. It has to be real leather or me no likey.
My handbags MUST be cross body, as I cannot be bothered to hoik shoulder bags up all the time, and I like having my hands free.
I spotted this in Markies.
What do we think?

i like it ver much. Good price, like the colour and texture.

LeslieKnope · 13/02/2013 16:44

I'm a fellow cheap handbagger and I think that's lovely.

Lovely colour, practical and kinda retro.

AgentProvocateur · 13/02/2013 16:45

I like it too. If you buy it, can you let me know how heavy it is? I have a lovely leather one at the moment, but it's quite heavy and I've developed a sore neck.

pictish · 13/02/2013 16:48

It's smart for the money I think.

I have a leather messenger bag atm...it's really nice, but I've had it since I was 18 (so 20 years) and the strap is close to snapping. It's never been quite big enough for all those gloves and hats that get thrust my way out and about.
I have a voucher for Markies so it could go towards it.

Looks lovely

FaffTastic · 15/02/2013 21:20

I like it. Would prefer it if the buckles were gold or pewter rather than silver but it looks a good quality bag and more expensive than it is.

Why is the leather different colours - the flap is different from the straps - which are different from the main bag . . . . or am I being picky Blush

Teahouse · 15/02/2013 21:29

And another like...like lots actually

libertychick · 15/02/2013 21:31

It's great - like it a lot.

plipplops · 15/02/2013 22:01

I really like it.

pictish · 15/02/2013 22:15

Ok I have it in my sticky paws.

It's a lovely bag. It's just the right size for those of us who carry wipes, gloves, hats and diecast cars along with the usual stuff. It's nice and light, and not as big as a standard satchel, so it's great. I used it all day today, and didn't notice it.

My only gripe is that the fittings...the buckles and so on, are brassy. I prefer a more muted and matt effect to metal. I think they look a bit....shiney? My friend thinks they're lovely.

Overall I'm dead chuffed with it.

It's one of those rare M and S gems by the look of it. Really fancy one myself. It's odd - the whole shop is full of over-styled, garish things but if you look hard there really is some good stuff.

Would never call it markies though. That's just too endearing for what it produces!!

FaffTastic · 15/02/2013 22:24

Hopefully the shineyness of the buckles might wear down a bit after a bit of wear? Know what you mean though - I prefer matte look buckles rather than shiney-shine

pictish · 15/02/2013 22:26

Sorry for 'Markies' - it has always been Markies to me, from my granny to my aunties to my mum. I agree - horribly chummy...and I'm not like that, honestly.

It's got the style I want at a price I can afford. Goes with anything...can take emergency supplies.

Despite the bling.

There are some lovely leather handbags in M&S, TKMaxx, Debenhams etc, all below £100. No need to spend £££ in my opinion.

Satchel looks lovely - enjoy!

frustratedworkingmum · 15/02/2013 22:29

but thats not a cheap handbag, its £79!! Shock

pictish · 15/02/2013 22:31

It's cheap for a leather handbag!
