For a "proper"blow dry

Should I buy a vented round brush or is my trusty bristle one ok?

If I should buy a round vented brush (if that's even what you call them), which should I buy?

(if it's important, my hair is fine and crap)

I brought a vented one but find my old normal one easier. That said i have over heated my old one and the pin bits are a little curled over from doing my fringe :-(
May buy a cheap one from home and bargin or wilko to have a play with, i think the vented are metal to hold the heat too.
