Getting an amethyst re-set, need inspiration please

I have inherited dh's grandmother's amethyst ring and I am getting it reset. I need to look at other gem stone settings for inspiration, it is a large stone and I like the handmade almost medieval setting for it but can't find what I mean on line. I have looked at the astely clarke site - any more you can think of for me to check out?

Do you have any jewellery shops in town to go get inspiration? We've a few independent smaller jewellery shops in ours that have some beautiful old rings in. Very different to the usual at Ernest Jones etc, they're all a bit samey and new looking IMO

Any antique shops nearby? - they may have more unusual settings suited to the stone.
