Hat for DH

DH is a man who wears suits to work and otherwise pretty much exclusively wears black v-neck jumpers and boring trousers - so forget trendy or the arty/creative type, he's as unadventurous as they come in fashion (as am I, I hasten to add).

However he has been saying for years that he "wants a hat" because he thinks it would be "cool". To be honest I've never been that keen, and almost managed to change his mind with frequent references to Pete Doherty a few years ago, but the idea seems to have stuck and as his birthday is coming up I thought I'd look into it.

What sort of hat he actually wants has always been hazy - basically, he has no idea and I am clueless as well. So I'm hoping MN can help me out and you can recommend something. His winter coat looks something like this: www.johnlewis.com/332650/Product.aspx . Any ideas what might look ok with that?

Many thanks!

What about a flat cap. My hubby (in his 40's) has just bought one in dark grey to wear with a suit and wool coat to work. There are some good ones on the John Lewis site.
