Having been a lifetime nail biter i stopped in October, my nails were growing well but have now all broken, i developed ridges on my nails running from cuticle to tip lots of every finger my nails split along these lines, there also so soft they bend under any pressure, any the white part of nail also looks stripey because of the ridges. I use nail hardner daily and moisturise my hands around nails but no improvement. My nails bed are shortened too because of all the biting and they arent showing any signs of reattaching have i ruined them for good? any tips?

ridges are usually a sign if nail damage that is usually can't be repaired, can also be hereditary. Keep them short by filling them down and keep moisturing the cuticle with cuticle oil, solar oil is the best. Hopefully they'll strengthen soon, you could also have a gel polish manicure such as gelish or shellac to help them grow

My nails have improved enormously since I started taking pregnacare conception for ttc! You can get specific vit complexes marketed for hair and nails specifically which probably have similar ingredients.

I bought OPI Nail Envy recommended here.
If I use it and stick to it, my nails grow well. Expensive but worth it in my case.

Cube of jelly every day. It works

I think it's folic acid...I'm not sure. since giving birth mine keep breaking. I'm going to start taking folate again and hope it works.

Vitamin B complex.

Takes about 6 weeks to see a difference (because it takes that long for the nail affected by taking the complex to grow to the tip of your fingers) but it is BRILLIANT!

hi there
Long time nail biter and cuticle picker here (v glamorous, I know). I have now stopped and have found the following products really helpful:
Mavala Scientifique - about £6 in Boots, works wonders
Sally Hansen Double Duty base and top coat - about £6 too

Keep your nails shortish and keep filing and I'm sure the ridges will grow out.
A multivitamin per day also helps.
