Leather boots and broken zips - aargh!

Hi
My beloved boots (about 5 years old now), have a problem. The zip is coming away from the leather, which is a problem in itself, but also causing the teeth in the zip to deform. The boots were, for me, a v expensive purchase and are fine in every other way, so I really want to repair them. Do I need a shoe repairers or someone that does clothes alterations? Any idea how much it might cost (SE)?
Please help Smile

I got my long leather boots zips replaced by a saddler - she charged me £20, and did a really good job

I was getting some keys cut the other day and a lady came in to have her boots repaired and re heeled it was about £15. Maybe try somewhere like that.

If the brand you bought them from is still around, first, try them.
Second, try a cobblers or key cutters that does shoe repairs like root says.

I had a handle come off a leather handbag, and the local shoemenders fixed it. They had to send it away to be stitched but it worked a treat.

Or, if there are still visible stitch holes in the leather, get some thread (from the aforementioned shoe mender) and a thick needle, and have a go yourself (back stitch, to give a neat finish on the outside). But it will be tough.

Thanks for suggestions. They are mbt's but I bought them when I lived in another town, so not sure how I could ask the shop to sort them out Hmm, and not sure if mbt are still going?
I will seek out my 'local' shoemenders, wherever they may be. Ta!

The rocker sole brand?

Email HQ here.

Cobblers will do them. Price varies depending on style and length but I was quoted £25 for a pair of very thick leather dms with a tricky inset zip.

Thanks LCR, I have emailed then.
Depending on what they advise, I shall seek out my local shoe menders, wherever they may be. Thanks everyone!

I was quoted £40 to replace one zip at Timpsons - £80 for the pair, my lovely boots had to be binned.
