Anyone own a garment steamer?

I've heard that they are meant to be great as long as you own a good one. I can't afford the likes of Jiffy which start around £150 but have seen a Rowenta one

Does anyone have one of these or own a different one that you can recommend. I'm fed up of getting ironing marks on silk etc!

I have one which I bought on eBay (cheaply) which I adore. I used to work in retail and enjoyed using the one at work so much that I bought one. I never iron now, it's so much easier and faster to steam!

Thanks ginger, I'll just need to work out how to use it! I got the Rowenta one at Debenhams in the end. Has a promo on it and an additional 10% off so was £72! Selling in john lewis and house of Fraser for £100 so am taking a gamble that it's okay given all the dept stores are selling it....

Ooh can you let me know how you get on with it? I'm interested in one too- at the moment I never iron (DH does his work shirts, I wear stretchy stuff) but DS starts school in September and will have a proper shirt. I don't want my lack of ironing leaving him labelled the scruffy one.

They are pretty simple, just fill with water and leave it to warm up. You'll know when it's ready by all the steam! Very easy to burn your fingers though, especially if you're trying to get a crease of out a sleeve or something so be careful! Brilliant thoughSmile

Just to update- garment steamer arrived and it is great! 3 pairs of trousers and 3 shirts done in less than 10 mins and much better than an iron. Great on silk too.

I got a cheap handheld clothes steamer for a tenner from Lidl yesterday so will see how I get on with that then might invest.
