Another red lipstick thread, sorry...

I've been wearing red lipstick around the house for a couple of days to try and get used to it for a night out. The one I've been wearing is MAC Russian Red, and whilst I do really like it I feel I would prefer something just a little deeper/darker.

Can anyone recommend anything please? Preferably MAC as I'm familiar with their stuff and have a voucher to spend - but I'm open to others, and don't mind £££.

How does Viva Glam I compare, for example? And is it better to stick with matte for longlasting colour and to avoid ending up with it all over face?!

I wear red in the house too, i wore it out the other day I looked like a clown when I got home, it was cheap shit tho so watching with interest.

I've got blue eyes, ruddy cheeks and have a touch of ginger auburn about me. I get on well with Clinque's Parisian Red.

I have a lot of red lipsticks - getting to be an addiction .. my favourites are Bobbi Brown Red Carpet and Heart - I find them a little moister than the Mac Russian which I find very dry.

I've just discovered Becca lipsticks and am wearing sheer tint lip colour in Tatiana, which I love. It's kind of a raspberry red but not too pigmented. My colouring is very dark brown hair and eyes and skin on the olive/yellow spectrum.

Try MAC Dubonnet. It's a lovely creme texture, red but not bright bright red, more a deep muted red on me (olive/dark skin). I have MAC Red too, but Dubonnet is for those days when I fancy a less 'in your face' scarlet red IYSWIM Grin

Having watched the Lisa Eldrige vid on red lipstick last night, she recommended Red Lizard by Nars, Chanel Rouge Allure in Lover 09,Mac Russian Red and Revlon Really Red for darker skins (exactly halfway through the vid). So.... if you suit Russian Red then maybe the Chanel one she said would be good as it was a deeper, darker pinky Bordeaux red.

I like Clinique Parisian Red and Nars Manhunt...both a bit poppy red.

Am a bit of a red lipstick virgin, but I just bought Mac Ruby Woo (after seeing it mentioned it on here...) and am wearing it out for the first time tonight. Nervous!

Take a peek here (you need to click on the tiny 'load all' link when you've scrolled down a bit. Obviously the womans skin tone, the lighting and the colour calibration of the computer screen mean they aren't an exact representation of the true colour. Still handy though!

Ruby Woo is well worth trying, even if it isn't what you think you want.

I love Chanel Rouge Coco in 19 Gabrielle and Coco Rouge Allure in Lover. Dior Creme de Gloss in Rouge Nectar 845 has been discontinued but is fabulous. I like my reds glossy yet vintage. Normally vintage reds are quite matte, so I'm happy with the two Chanels. I'm quite tempted by Nars Norma, too. The site linked to by notMarlene is really fantastic, I use it all the time as a reference.

I've bought Bobbi Brown Hollywood Red recently and it looks dire on me - it's too 'blue' a red for my yellow-y toned skin I think. If anyone would like it I will gladly post!
