It will be fine Grin

Are you excited about it? Any change of colour?
I go from very long to bob about every 2 years and it's quite liberating!

Make sure your hairdresser cuts carefully so you can donate the hair for children with cancer Smile (a decent hairdresser will know where to send it)

How much do you need to be having cut off to donate it, jackstini?

My DS has hair way past his shoulders and will be having it cut to just below collar length next week. Will his hair be of any use?

Just be sure it's really what you want.....I had long hair 6 years ago, I foolishly had it cut over the years, and then 2 years ago cut to above shoulder length - I really regret it now. I've been on meds which caused my hair to thin & fall out - so I can't grow it back to its longer length - I so wish I hadn't cut my hair :( the other times I had it 'trimmed' was because I've over-coloured it looked nasty so had to have a few inches off at a time.

It's just scrapping past shoulder length now, been like that for about 15 months, I've had about 3 trims & only had the thinnest bit off. If you really have your heart set on going shorter, perhaps just have a few inches off (remember hairdresser inches are different to ours!!!!) and if you haven't already, try adding a fringe for a new look and/or colour. You can always go shorter later if you really want to but there's no going back once you've lost your locks!

I think it is 8" plus
They have to put it in a ponytail and cut it off above the band.
Your DS could get sponsored to do it too - people love a hair chop!
