Ordering from Shopbop

I'm contemplating ordering a bag from Shopbop to take advantage of cheaper US prices, but how do you work out the customs charge? Is it standard? There are different delivery options, which is best?
I gather returns are expensive, is that because of the need to insure the items?
Any good/bad experiences before I flex the CC?
TIA

I always pay customs up front so it isn't a horrible shock down the line. And they refund if it's over - I normal get a random refund a couple of months later.

Returns expensive as to the states, so keep that in mind if ordering anything heavy.

Shopbop are brilliant I ordered a pair of jeans from them on Tuesday night and received them Thursday lunch time amazing delivery from America to Ireland. I would always pay duty beforehand as they are in my mind always much cheaper than paying on arrival.
I paid forty American dollars tax and duty with them for a pair of ?135 jeans,as opposed to paying added charges on this end which first and last time I ordered similar priced jeans I was charged just under ?60!!! On arrival which by my rough calculations would equal just under 80 American dollars!

Go for it whatever duty is it will still be cheaper than ordering from Uk or Ireland. I have no experience of returns though as I only use them for jeans which I know my size still, way cheaper than nap or mw etc

I've paid about £15 to send jeans back, with tracking. Have bought from them many times. I live the fast delivery. Always click on the first option to pay upfront for customs. They are higher than they used to be. J Brands now cost the same in £ as they do in dollar ie 150 dollar jeans cost £150.

Just done a price comparison between nap and shopbop

Jbrand jeans on shopbop uk£114.38/ Us$177.00/ Ire?134.38
Same 811 jeans on nap. Uk£205. / Us$172 / Ire?250.00

Even with tax I have still saved over ?80 buying from shop bop bit of a difference really.
