No one says this in rl. They say "a stripey t shirt " fgs

Same with 'crisp white shirt' - makes me stabby.

womblingalong · 27/01/2013 08:14

Also "a slim trouser" and "sourcing a piece", rather than buying something FGS

Maureen - I sense a theme with your threads.......

MrsCampbellBlack · 27/01/2013 08:56

I may wear a breton top today with a skinny jean Wink

MirandaWest · 27/01/2013 08:58

I find Breton tops make me feel stabby whether or not anyone talks about them. Not sure what it is about them that annoys me so.

MrsCampbellBlack · 27/01/2013 09:06

You see 'stabby' annoys me - its one step away from 'squee'

DonaAna · 27/01/2013 09:13

Maureen, I think you might feel more comfortable somewhere else.
This used to be a friendly and supportive place.
Why spend time here if everyone is so ridiculous.
Each subspecialty has its jargon. Fashion has its own language, learn it and respect it, or start your own forum.

FunnyLittleFrog · 27/01/2013 09:14

'Worn with a red lip' gets me all aerated.

AmberNectarine · 27/01/2013 09:16

Bravo, Dona

Nothing humble about my bragging btw, I have an amazing wardrobe. :)

PenelopePisstop · 27/01/2013 09:16

I think I must be a bit gullible - I'd rather buy a Breton top than a striped t-shirt.

womblingalong · 27/01/2013 09:18

To clarify, I don't like the terms I quoted in magazine copy etc, not bothered what people use on MN.

AmberNectarine · 27/01/2013 09:20

Exactly Penelope, you can be French and interesting in a Breton. In a striped top you are just a comedy burglar.

Also "teamed with" , "on trend" "rocking " as in...

"She is so on trend, rocking the Breton stripe teamed with a slim trouser"

Ah, but if it is a genuine Breton top, with an authentication label, as bought by Granny for my DC, when on holiday and accompanied by a bilingual book (for a 4 yo) I have to refer to it as that, in an arch sort of way, you understand Wink

Annianni · 27/01/2013 09:29

I shall wear a breton today, with slim jeans and my 'ambers' (otherwise known as Ash wedge trainers)

I can't do a red lip though.

But I may wear a piece of statement jewell

Annianni · 27/01/2013 09:30

ery

Chugchug · 27/01/2013 09:33

I'll second Dona fashion does have it's own language and a Breton top simply describes the style of top, it's not simply a striped top, that can mean so many styles of tops.

I don't be on S&B an awful lot but every time I am you are moaning and slagging things off Maureen I don't think that's what S&B is about. Maybe that's why I don't come here an awful lot.
