Having stones from ring reset- recommendations.

I am thinking of having the stones from my engagement ring re-set. I have a new wedding ring in white gold and want my engagment ring reset the same.

I consulted Harriet Kelshall but they were very expensive- over £2K which is crazy. The ring cost a fraction of that when new.

Anyone any ideas?

OMG! That sounds an awful lot. Is that the cost of the new engagement ring (minus the stones, obviously)?

I've done it the other way round, IYSWIM. Lost a stone from engagement ring and had it replaced. Cost me £145.

No suggestions I'm afraid, except to try other jewellers.

Correct :) They wanted over £2k for a simple 2.5mm band using my stones and 2 tiny diamonds of theirs, over £800 for using 1 of my stones to make into a simple pendant necklace.

Hells bells! I'd tell them to sod off, personally. Smile

Have you tried any of the jewellers in Hatton Garden (London)? There are a few experts down there. I'm waiting to get around to having a small scratch taken out of an emerald. If I have time I'll look up who was recommended to me. Apologies for being vague! A local family jeweller might be able to recommend someone.

I had the stones from my original engagement ring reset when the old settings wore out. I had them reset in a 18ct ring and it cost me £250. This was done at my local jewellers.
