Clinique TM wrong shade used once, can I return it?

I bought the moisture surge TM on Wednesday after the sales assistant tried a tiny dot on my chin. She said it was the right colour but when I tried it today it looks too dark and silly as my neck is a different colour.

Can I take it back for a refund? I can't afford to waste £21.50. Why do they always try it on a tiny area of your face, you can't tell by that if its ok.

They did the same to me once and wouldn't replace. It's worth a try maybe ask the manager or perhaps email Clinique Customer Services first to see if they will allow this, going over the heads of assistance (and their commission).

Hope you manage to get it sorted, it's horrible when things like this happen.

PS- Worst case scenario you can always try to sell on Ebay and get some cash back. I managed to sell some Clarins stuff following a similar situation and lost only a £5 on what I paid.

have you got a john Lewis near you, they will sort it out for you.

i took a bobbi brown lipstick back to them without a receipt and they exchanged it no quibble, i didnt even but it from them!

It was a while ago but I bout some Clinique foundation when I was about 16. The (very orange) sales assistant tried it on me and gave me a really dark shade. My mother frogmarched me back and loudly deman a refund as how dare they "turn a self conscious teenager into an Oompa Loompa." We got the refund with no problems! Make a fuss!

As you took sales advice, I would definitely go back and complain. Speak to a Manager.

Whenever I have bought new clinique products the assistants have always told me I can bring it back if I have problems with it. I have never bothered to though, despite my newer foundation being bloody sparkly. Apparently it's not sparkly, it's radiant Grin Bring back Almost Makeup I say.

This happened to me ages ago. I contacted head office and I got a refund (or it might have been a voucher, can't remember, but I was happy with the outcome).

Ihatethecold will John Lewis refund without a receipt?
Santa I totally agree bring back almost make up. I loved it, why in earth they discontinued it I'll never understand. I can't find anything as good.

As you had advice I'd definitely go back. They may not give you a refund but will probably change it for something else for you. The same thing happened to my sister in Debenhams and they changed it no problem when she spoke to the counter manager.

LittleChimneyDroppings · 26/01/2013 20:32

I would because you were given the wrong advice.
