My first grey hairs!!! - What now?

So this morning I discovered not one, but 3! And despite secretly hoping for beautiful white hair, it appears I shall be mostly cultivating the steel grey pubic type.
So now, do I
a)brave it out for a bit in the hope no more appear for a while?
b)pull them out and regret it bitterly when i have 6 there tomorrow?
c)start colouring my hair? (sob)

I pulled out the odd few, was some years ago, am only now beginning to consider colouring mostly because an abundance have appeared around my temples. I would sit it out for a while and tweezer out the ones you have seen.
It is the first step of a big decline!

oh i know - am hardly a child, but this is a depressing moment! Everyone I know colours their hair, so I have no idea how grey or not anyone else is!

I'm the same Catrin. Found the odd few and pulled them out with tweezers. At the moment they're the same texture as the rest, ie not wiry, so hopefully that'll continue when they come in more frquently. Don't really want to start dying as I have dark brown hair - it's a slippery slope of frequent maintenance I don't really want to get into. But ask me again in a year!

I pull mine out. I don't have many - they're rarely visible unless it's the right light.

Definitely don't dye until you have to.

Yes, exactly, I am a sort of all over similarly dark hair, so would be obvious if I suddenly turned up with some highlighted do. And I am Very Lazy. Tweezers it is then..

Grrr to the non pubic variety!

I started by tweeze ring but now there are just a few too many so I have turned to colouring. I have just used a hair dye from the supermarket and am very pleased with the results. Looks natural and has coloured the grey. Unless you are happy to fork out £££ for highlights, I would try the at home dyes first. I have mid brown hair

I swear by superdrugs coloured shampoo, the exact name of it escapes me at the moment actually I can't be arsed to get out of my nice warm bed it comes in a small grey bottle and is near the shampoos... just don't go to dark, and I swear to god it looks really natural and the grey hair just blends in... theres a chestnut colour, copper colour, mahogany colour, and a red....
I've used one on my hair earlier and it looks really glossy... [smug]

I pulled the first few, but now leave them to it. I can't fight the tide. They are growing in a rather fetching stripe though; DP says I'm like Rogue from X-Men (and he always fancied her a bit).

I used to cut them out almost to the roots when they were just few, now I use hair dye which covers the grey, as I could go bald if go on cutting them. That's for my hair...

Mine started to go grey in my teens...! I have a fair sprinkling now and am considering colouring. I preferred my sprinkling / emerging streak to a bald patch, which is what I'd have had if I'd pulled them all out!
My main problem is that I am too lazy to maintain a dyed do...

I've had a sudden surge over the last few years since I had children coincidentally, I'm leaving well alone. I don't want to go down the dyeing route, and they are silvery white and not awful, so I'm letting it happen.

Aww. Bless you, I was really excited when I got my first grey hair, my daughter tried to pull it out, I was like "no leave it, I'm going to leave my hair to go grey , have the style cut really short and go for the judy dench look"

I found my first on my 30th birthday - true fact!

I decided to pull them and put off dyeing for as long as possible. I'm now 45 and still doing ok. I might go another year before starting to colour.

But it wasn't true that if you pull them out you will be punished with 100's

I've had a clump of them arrive recently but they r all together.

Colouring is a pain and the greys come back v fast.

Recently I have been putting mascara in the few noticeable ones in my parting and that works a treat.....til it rains.

So (against DHs advice) I have coloured them in with marker pen (I do have black hair) and it sorts it.

Not sure i want to do this when I have loads but seems fine for now.

There's something you can buy on QVC that you brush on to cover them. If you've only got a few it's far less faff than to colour your hair.

I had my first few about this time last year and was equally mortified...
I ended up pulling them out and pretending they hadn't happened (la la la fingers in ears, eyes shut!!!)
The myth that 2 grow back in their place hasn't happened yet. Every so often I see one and pull it out again but at the moment its still manageable.
I have no idea what I'll do when they become more numerous - don't want to dye my hair because it won't ever match my hair colour which I like, (have an unusual ginger colour) am lazy and am tight!!!!

You could start by tweezering them out - but sorry not much help beyond that if it gets worse...

Superdrug colour effects shampoo, I have only a few "silvery" hairs, but the superdrug stuff does the trick if I want to perk my hair up. You are supposed to leave it on for 5 mins and then wash it out, it is good there are a few shades to choose from, you can build it up, or just do it when you feel like it. It avoids the regrowth problems and is so much cheaper than highlights at the hairdressers, worth a try.

I think if their coming through a bit wiry is to intensively condition your hair frequently.

I have my first greys but I've started using a Pantene shine mask every wash and it is helping. They do an night time spray treatment which I'm trying next.

Gliss do a spray on shine treatment too.

It's basically unnoticeable until you're a good 2-3% grey. And that's a lot of hairs.

People go grey at different rates, but I found my first greys at 23 and got away with tweezing for about ten years.

I have lots framing my face but only a couple elsewhere- I recomend hair mascara- You can get semi permanent ones. I use the every now and then.....fir the more adventurous you can get neon colours too!

I am 38, so have clearly escaped lightly compared to some, but my hair has always been so...easy and now I am dreading the possibility of having to maintain that AS WELL, especially as they truly are the grim kind. If they were the beautiful white kind, I would embrace them a bit more. Long as they stay on my head and do not move south that is
